I know you reference and file and cross reference and check and recheck everything I say, but the least you could do is get it right. I said I would bet that my new laptop isn't much nicer than the systems that other people in here were using. You pay for mobility. A nice laptop is merely an average desktop. But hey, maybe I'm wrong and my new laptop (arriving December 19, thank you very much) is nicer than anything anyone else in here has. So I guess I stand corrected.

I just think it's hilarious how a totally offhanded comment I made got so many moonbats all riled up.

Hey stalker: This is the TV here in my office that I affectionately refer to as "the little one". Please note the ruler on the side for size reference. Oh and I took this picture on my iPhone 4S (that's the new one, not the old one) and uploaded it to my i7 desktop (which I consider obsolete enough to warrant purchasing a new computer).

I was a bit taken aback, too. That's about $1.500.00 more than MrP and I paid for both of our desktop systems put together.

For that kind of money, I sure hope it does something our systems don't do besides move around.

If he wants to spend $2,500 on a laptop then good for him. I don't see the need to spend that kind of money on hardware, but that's just me.

Well, since so many people are so interested in my purchases, I guess I should clarify. The computer itself was $2,461.24 (after tax) but I also got a deal on a 24 inch monitor for $224.69 in the same order.
It probably does the exact same stuff but here's the important thing: Mine does it faster.

Look, when you use your computer for posting to patsfans.com or storing bacon and egg recipes, then sure a $500 laptop is perfectly fine. But when your computer is an integral part of your career and a tool that you absolutely need on a constant basis, then you need something a little bit stronger than a Sony Vaio or a Dell XPS.

And you want to know something else? Believe it or not, the very first program (license) that I'll have installed on my computer is more expensive than the computer itself, by a pretty significant margin no less. But at least that I won't have to pay for.

I take it you are self-employed? Otherwise, if your computer is such an integral part of your career and a tool that you absolutely need on a constant basis, wouldn't your employer supply you with it?

When it comes to fun gadgets and music, yeah I like Apple. But when it comes to serious computing? Sorry but I'm not on some college campus somewhere. I'm PC all the way, end of discussion.
