Another Example of denial of free speech by McCain/Bush
This is interesting, a 60 year old woman shows up to a McBush rally with a sign that says McCain=Bush... no yelling, no rowdiness.. she gets a ticket and thrown out. What the Fuuck are we fighting for.. let's keep everything sanitized and put up happy faces...
The question that Ms. Kreck asks is poignant, "Aren't the republicans proud that McCain equals Bush??"
60-year-old librarian received a trespassing ticket today after a liberal group's protest outside a John McCain town hall meeting Monday.
Clutching a sign that read "McCain = Bush," Carol Kreck was removed from the atrium at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts by four Denver police officers.
Kreck, a former Denver Post reporter who works part-time as a librarian for an education think tank, said she was removed as she quizzed a police officer about whether he could deny her free speech "on city property" by taking away her sign, while McCain supporters wore buttons

Her actions appear legal. I'm sure if she was within the law, she'll be bringing this to court and the cop will be exposed. If she was wrong, she won't press charges and it will be forgotten.

Jesus, CAN YOU PEOPLE READ!!!!!!!!
It is a city owned RENTAL PROPERTY!!!!!
Jenny Schiavone, a spokeswoman for the performing arts center, said the venue is city-owned rental property, but is not legally defined as public
the property was rented out by the McCain people, and the PROTESTORS WERE TOLD THEY COULD ALSO RENT SPACE,
The liberal group ProgressNowAction had called before the event and asked about being inside the atrium, she said. The group was told it would have to rent space or use previously designated protest areas along the street, Schiavone said.
they chose not to, the reporter (notice how she is referred to as a librarian, when she is actually a reporter for the paper the slanted story appears in) illegally entered the rented facility.
In the same video, a police officer tells her she can attend the event if she gets rid of the sign.
A McCain spokesman said no one, including McCain supporters, were allowed to carry signs.
So, if I'm against gay weddings, I can march into every hall that gays rent and protest their weddings and that would be "free speech"? Of course not, it's called tresspassing, and that is EXACTLY WHAT SHE WAS CHARGED WITH!!!!

Re: Another Example of denial of free speech by McCain/Bush
It is laughable to make a free speech argument about an organized event inside a rented hall. An infringement on free speech would be taking away the protester's rights in their own area, not whether they are allowed into a private event.

Reading comprehension isn't this forums strong suit.

Also, it was just a stupid question for that type of event. If she really wanted to ask him a critical/pointed question about his support of the war and challenge him, good I think that should be encouraged. Politicians should be challenged and forced to explain themselves. But her snotty "Aren't the republicans proud that McCain equals Bush??" is only designed to antagonize and be a general nuisance.

Do you actually believe the spin you put on this.. did you watch the footage.. without regard for most of your contentions, it seems pretty un american to escort this woman out.. as far as the contention goes that she worked for the press previously but no longer, how do you know it is slanted.. the story seems to parallel the video footage...
Do McCain buttons constitute signs???.. this whole election cycle is becoming very sanitized... do not allow any type of confrontation or dissent.
I would think that all you wrighties would like McCain=Bush.. but I guess that is not a good equation.. I guess we can rent the papal bubble car and put McCain in it so no one can ask him any questions.. sounds like another Bush to me.

No, I do not watch any of the videos (they are blocked on almost every computer I'm using)
So, you think that because people attending a private event, in a hall rented by the McCain caimpaign, are wearing a "McCain" button, then this women, should be allowed to barge in, and hold up here sign. The story says that on the video YOU CAN CLEARLY HEAR THE POLICE TELL HER, THAT YES, SHE CAN ENTER, SHE JUST HAVE TO LEAVE HER SIGN BEHIND, BECAUSE ALL SIGNS HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM THE EVENT.
To say that a McCain button=a sign, is just disingenious.

Disingenuous my ass, it is not big deal for her.. McCain=Bush is something you all should be proud of.
