Default Oldie, but goodie

The English language has some wonderfully
anthropomorphic collective nouns for the
various groups of animals.

We are all familiar with a

Herd of cows,
a Flock of chickens,
a School of fish
and a Gaggle of geese.

However, less widely known is:

a Pride of lions,
a Murder of crows

(as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens),
an Exaltation of doves and, presumably
because they look so wise:
a Parliament of owls.

Now consider a group of Baboons.
They are the loudest, most dangerous,
most obnoxious, most viciously
aggressive and least intelligent of all
primates.

And what is the proper collective noun
for a group of baboons?

Believe it or not ……. a Congress!
A CONGRESS OF BABOONS!
I guess that pretty much explains the
things that come out of Washington !
You just can’t make this stuff up.

It said you can't make that up No I was going through some old emails that I archived and came across it and thought I'd share it in the political forum.

That's funny. I thought it was called a troop but when I looked it up - it's either.

OT, but did you know that a congress of baboons often keeps dogs as pets?

Well, I didn't. Wild baboons, like humans, can keep dogs as pets. - OMG Facts

It's pretty remarkable. They kidnap pups and raise them for guard dogs.

Salamanders are a "congress" (slimy, hard to catch, amphibious, live under rocks). A group of baboons is a "troop" (and rarely a "flange").
Someone's yanking y'all.

My favorites:
rhumba of rattlesnakes
party of jays
bloat of hippopotamuses

Cool.

Goes to show you should always use more than one source. Baboons can be a "congress".

A Congress of baboons when in danger have a strange line of defense, they form a large group then stand together and GRIN.
