In a column on The American Thinker, anti-Islam blogger Pamela Geller explains that halal meats are already prevalent throughout most of the meat industry, but now they have even infiltrated the popular frozen turkey producer Butterball.
"A citizen activist and reader of my website AtlasShrugs.com wrote to Butterball, one of the most popular producers of Thanksgiving turkeys in the United States, asking them if their turkeys were halal. Wendy Howze, a Butterball Consumer Response Representative, responded: 'Our whole turkeys are certified halal.'"
“In a little-known strike against freedom, yet again, we are being forced into consuming meat slaughtered by means of a torturous method: Islamic slaughter,” Geller writes.
She continues that if you like freedom and hate sharia, you should boycott Butterball and ask them to stop selling these nefarious birds.

Offer an example, and maybe I'll agree. What are you thinking of specifically?
When I think of conservative idiots, I think of Republican leaders rallying around the freedom fries cause or prominent conservative Pamela Geller urging a boycott of Butterball turkeys.
Re: Conservative idiot urges you to boycott Butterball
Funny TPM left out the description and reason some would object to meats prepared this way.
Quote:
Halal slaughter involves cutting the trachea, the esophagus, and the jugular vein, and letting the blood drain out while saying "Bismillah allahu akbar" -- in the name of Allah the greatest. Many people refuse to eat it on religious grounds. Many Christians, Hindus or Sikhs and Jews find it offensive to eat meat slaughtered according to Islamic ritual (although observant Jews are less likely to be exposed to such meat, because they eat kosher).
If people of some religions object to having a religious ritual performed on their food shouldn't they be informed of that?
However if a company wants to perform a religious ritual that is their business.
Why is informing the consumer wrong Patters?

The left boycotts all types of things for all sorts of reasons. The boycott concerns the practice of this company not identifying which Turkey's being blessed in a Islamic religious ritual. That seems as legit for people who have srong religious beliefs.
Perhaps if they were object to the hanging of Gays in Iran and Saudi Arabia it would better?

Is there anything that forbids a person from another religion from eating a turkey that is given a Muslim, Jewish, or other prayer? What exactly is the issue here? Are you afraid that you are now a Muslim for having eaten Butterball turkeys in the past? Do you think that food from Jamaica, Saudi Arabia, or other countries should carry a warning that says, "Warning: By eating this item you are supporting governments that oppress homosexuals?" If I buy a product with parts made in a country I don't agree with, do you think there should be warning. Do you think that your toaster oven should say, "Warning: Some of the electronic components of this product have been made in Socialist countries?" The only reason it would be an issue is if Christians, for instance, proscribed eating Halal meat. But, to my knowledge, there are many Christians even today who enjoy Kosher and Muslim food. Have you ever eaten in a deli or a foreign restaurant? Do you ask if there are any prayers said over the food? Do you look in the menu for information about the religious practices associated with the preparation of the food?
