Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden Draw Boos at NASCAR Event - Yahoo! News

I am no fan of the first lady, but I have to admit, I would never boo her
or the president.

Express your feelings in the voting booth, but show some class by not booing
the first lady.

I agree but politics is no personal and nasty in our current times. Geoege Bush shows up at Texas events and I think that's it.

Too bad as she and Mrs. Biden were there promoting an effort focusing on helping military families.. from what I read when she met with the drivers they applauded her.

Quote:
The First Lady and Biden were invited to the season-ending event to bring awareness to their Joining Forces initiative, which supports military families.

“I know this is a big day for all of you so we’re not going to take up your time because you need to be focused,” Obama said. “We just wanted to stop by and say thank you. NASCAR has just been amazing in terms of its support not just today, but everyday of military families.

“What Joining Forces is trying to do is rally the country to make sure these families feel the same kind of support from this country they’ve given us. One percent of our country serves and they protect the freedoms of the other 99 percent of us. ...

“These military families are stepping up in ways that are amazing. Days like this just remind them they do have a country that cares and appreciates what they do, and it means so much to them.”

That and we, as a society, have lost any sense of decorum. It's pretty disappointing to hear this.

This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

I would agree with this. Obama and Biden are both tools and totally unfit for office. However, their wives are, and should be, apolitical and focused on "good works programs" like this one actually was. It would have been proper to give polite applause (even if you don't mean it) and then move on.

This is just a symbol of the times though. It's a poisonous atmosphere out there politically and you can see examples of this type of stuff on both sides fairly regularly. It's pretty sad actually.

Just drive down any highway in Massachusetts and you'll get a glimpes. People actually believe driving is the best time to make a phone call!

You'll see people trying to text while driving and if you beep, they'll look at you as if YOU are the one doing something wrong.

I'd like to see a law passed that makes talking on the phone (even "hands-off") while moving illegal in all states. It could easily be implemented and it should be. There is no reason people can't stop their car to make a call.

24/7 communication isn't a necessary function.

I'd never boo a first lady, at least I don't think I would, so in that sense this is definately disappointing. I will say though that it's not entirely surprising considering the circumstances, or the times. You have a country that's in economic turmoil, suffering massive debt and unemployment, with a president who is grossly unpopular to large segments of the public, especially those in Nascar country. I'm not sure who thought it would be a good idea to send Obama and Biden to a Nascar event in republican country, and introduce them at the point where the crowd is as liquored up, and as fired up, as can be. Not a good idea imo.

Good point...maybe someone thought Obama could make some headway into the "Nascar crowd". But common sense should have told them it would be best to stay away.

Hey, I have an idea, let's send Rick Perry's wife to the next Acorn convention!
