Hey, RW, still attacking black ministers? Have any nasty words to say for white ones? Just curious. Do you have cute nicknames for the anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic Hagee? And how long ago was Hymietown, and didn't Jackson apologize? I know you still pretend to hate Byrd for his KKK activities 50 years ago, despite his apology and very pro civil rights stands. Now, tell us, who are the men (or women, if there are any) you admire. I'm sure I can find some dirt from a generation or two ago to turn you against them. Are you aware of your own double standard or do you not reflect in that way?
Bring up a white minister and I'll tell you what I think about him. This is exactly what I mean by your being a fraud. When we talk about specific people, you try to make generalizations. When we're talking generally, you try to make someone's comments specific. If a thread is started that discusses the Shakedown Twins, then I'm speaking to those two specific people. Start a thread on some loser white minister, and I'll rip him if he deserves it. You're a total fraud Patters. When you have no leg to stand on you simply throw out the racist inuendo. When was the last time you criticized either guy? Please.
I like to point out Byrd cuz frauds like you support him. I'd NEVER vote for a former KKK member. EVER! He can appologize, and repent until the cows come home, and while I'd feel personally happy for him, I'd still never vote for him. There are some things that can be forgiven, but not forgotten. People like you seem to conveniently forget when it suits you. I don't.

That's because Byrd has consistently voted in favor of programs and laws that try to make our society more equal while Lott has consistently voted against such things. Lott has a 10% rating from the NAACP and Byrd has an 82% rating. Whether you agree with the NAACP or not, they do represent their constituency.
As a white man, you may feel more qualified than blacks as to who is racist and who is not, so perhaps you and RW should get together visit some of the black areas and enlighten those people about they should feel about racism in America.

They're willing to overlook that a guy was a ranking member of the KKK--white hoods and lynching, cross burnings and beatings, a man who actually said "nigger" on national tv not that long ago--but because he votes for things they like they'll let that slide? I'm sorry--I don't think I need to be an expert on racism to know that a man who was in the KKK and still uses offensive words like that in conversation probably isn't as pure...hell, remember George Allen? Forget party--if I knew a Republican was a member of the KKK I'd be screeching for his resignation louder than you would--because then it would be damn close to my own house being fouled by that crap.
Be an interesting little test though...pick a random member of the senate, a Republican. Start the rumor that he was once a Klansmen or a neo-nazi, then go out on the street and ask people at random if he should be kicked out of the Senate and see what happens.

I think black people are in a better position than white people to detect racism directed against black people. After all, you don't experience the subtle effects of racism, do you? Robert Byrd learned from his mistakes; Trent Lott did not. My point here is that if blacks defend Byrd, but not Lott, it's because they believe Byrd has seen the error of his ways and has demonstrated it; Lott has not. I'm not big fan of Byrd, but on race issues he has been quite good for many years. Also, the NAACP is just one score. Let's remember than well over 90% of blacks vote for Democrats. There is a feeling in the black community that the Democratic Party is more inclusive and more willing to acknowledge that discrimination and prejudice are problems that need to be addressed.
