One point we need to remind ourselves of is that real terrorists aren't wearing uniforms NOT because they can't afford them as you stated but because they want to remain anonymous. We aren't going to see a member of Al Qeada wearing a unform that says Al Qeada before he blows himself up in a crowd. It's a cowardly means of fighting in the first place.
That why I think this is a difficult topic to criticize. My biggest beef is that innocent people get caught in it. But I don't mind cowards being treated like cowards. Just make sure we know who is who.
and no a paul...I haven't changed my tune. I just reacted to the suggestion that we had resorted to torture in my earlier post. but since I haven't seen any proof of real torture to this point, I agree that making prisoners stand for long periods, naked pictures and the water boarding are not real forms of torture. Splinters under the fingernails is torture to me...drilling holes through someones teeth is torture to me.
I'd rather have splinters and holes drilled than be waterboarded. Thinking and feeling like you are dying is possibly the worst fear imaginable, and can do irreparable mental harm. And stress position can inflict an equally horrific sense of dread and mental anguish. The physical pain is nothing compared to psychological trauma, that's why these techniques are employed.
Watch a man on death row who is about to die and you'll see some of the most intense pain a human being can endure.

Oh jesus h christ on a pogo stick. stop watching cheesy movies on lifetime.
seriously.
in my life I've been seriously--really seriously injured more than once. Each one was life threatening. I'd much rather wonder if I was going to die than I would suffer some of the pain again.
When was the last time you were on death row, btw?
I didn't know it was a spectator sport, except in Texas.

I'm actually typing from death row right now.
By the way, I thought I was the only one who used the "Christ on a pogo stick" line. I prefer "Jesus tapdancing Christ" though.
Yes, but the intent of the Geneva convention is to ensure soldiers fighting in a war are held humanely by the other side. The insurgents can't afford and don't have uniforms. so that means we should just lock them up forever without trial or release? Why can't they be held as POWs? Give me ONE solid reason please.
This war is endless that's why the moniker "war on terror" is so moronic. How about we just fight a "war on evil" or a "war on meanness?" That's why it's not a real war and Gitmo isn't a POW camp, it's a house of horrors.
YEah but non uniformed conbatants were classified as spies and sabwetours at the time the Geneva conventions were written, they had NO RIGHTS under the convention and could be summarily executed....

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

and it fcking should be you tampon. another panty wearing liberal shown the light. how about this torture you liberal coward...the krauts used to tie pregnant women's legs together during birth to see how long it took for them to die. you f'cking babies better brush up a little on what real torture is. don't worry liberals the world is rosy. keep waterboarding the bad guys instead of hanging them and letting the birds pick out there eyeballs. oh, and if we string up a couple of criminals that aren't AQ, so be it. thanks for *****ing on the WTC.
you are right about one thing commy, the war is endless. so should we all put on our pink panties and hide in our closets? no, you ignorant tool. we go to war with the terrorists and we kill them. can't wait till the "war on liberals" starts, douchebag.
by the way, i'm not angry. i just call douchebaggery when i see it. have a great day.
SENATE PAGE...................... certainly explains why our Senate is so fukced up.........

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
