Re: Traveling Into The U.S. - Be Sure To Hide All Your Data First
How many times do I have to mispell this myth?
The TSA has no authority to scan your hardrive, no zip, zero, they will not do it, they can not do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
US Customs & Border Protection, can search your laptop, but only after getting permission to do a cursurory "border search" looking for ONLY A FEW THINGS: ITAR violations (prohibited arms/technology) or Child porn. So before anyone could search your laptop, they would have to convince their supervisor why they think you would have either of these items.
The people getting caught, are getting caught with child porn, because of the excellent work of people who have hacked into child porn websites, and gotten their subscriber's lists.
So if you are going to illegally export arms technology, or arr/were a subscriber to a child porn webiste, then yes, wipe your hard drive. Other than that, this is all more garbage from the tin foil hat brigade.
