Default One Country’s Table Scraps, Another Country’s Meal

Quote:
Food shortages are causing sporadic riots in poor countries through the world.
Americans waste an astounding amount of food — an estimated 27 percent of the food available for consumption, according to a government study — and it happens at the supermarket, in restaurants and cafeterias and in your very own kitchen.
In England, a recent study revealed that Britons toss away a third of the food they purchase, including more than four million whole apples, 1.2 million sausages and 2.8 million tomatoes. In Sweden, families with small children threw out about a quarter of the food they bought, a recent study there found.

Ah, so it's not just those horrible Americans

Look, it is what it is. If you don't like it send some non perishable good to Africa. I'm not going to stop doing business at the buffet of my choice just because some food is wasted.

I hate throwing food away and I hate seeing it thrown away.

Way too many people born in this country that should have started out elsewhere ... just so they know how good they have it.

It really is disgusting ... a big pet peeve of mine.

Hmm. According to the article, in England they toss out more than we do, and we're about tied with Sweden. So I guess by ww83's standards, this must qualify as a pro-America article! Thanks wes, I knew you could do it!

It seems like they're playing with the numbers too. England and Sweden are given as % of food purchased - whereas the U.S. is given as "food available for consumption". It stands to reason that a higher % of "available for consumption" would be wasted as some wouldn't be bought at the store and thrown out - so the other % are even higher than ours, it would seem.

Third world country's are thousands of years old and they still haven't learned how to feed themselves so the dip ***** do-gooders want us stop eating.

GOD DAMN AMERICA

I live in the greatest country in the world, my cat and my dog both had a fried chicken dinner with me tonight, my dog had some apple pie with me also, my cat don't like apples so the hell with her, I gave her some ice cream.
