Re: Veterans Affairs Staff Member Asked Doctors To Stop Diagnosing Patients With PTSD
Meanwhile, in a story wes never posted a link to, the military is considering awarding purple hearts to soldiers who suffer PTSD and other mental problems as a result of combat.
Here's a story from thinkprogress. That should satisfy the "little green footballs/howie carr" link police. There are others though...stars and stripes, wall street journal and so forth.
Pentagon advisory group considering awarding Purple Hearts for PTSD.»
On May 2, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that awarding the Purple Heart to veterans afflicted with PTSD was an “interesting idea.” “I think it is clearly something that needs to be looked at,” said Gates. Yesterday, Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell confirmed that the department was considering the issue, but cast doubt that the policy would actually change:
MORRELL: You know, I don’t think it’s for the secretary to make a decision on. I think the question was broached to the secretary; he answered it as best he could. […]
I should point out they’ve looked at this before and they determined — the had determined that it was not appropriate to make PTSD a qualification for a Purple Heart. But I can tell you that the department is exploring PTSD as a qualifying wound through the DOD Awards Advisory Group. There is no timetable at this point for them to produce a recommendation. But that’s the status of it as of right now.

A. Paul , you are seriously a TROLL ,no one can stop you from posting your own threads , stop hijacking peoples threads .
Next time , are you looking for a ban , because trolling is not accepted in this forum , you are always out of Topic.
Create your own thread , do you have anything to say about this PTSD story ?

Way to go troll!
Spin ,spin like a fox
Okay, how was that trolling? You posted a story about the military not diagnosing PTSD, and I posted one related to PTSD about the military considering awarding the Purple Heart for it. I'm sorry--I fail to see how posting a story related to the topic is being "a TROLL".
Perhaps you could complain to Patters about it and he could offer a mod's opinion on whether posting a related story in the same thread is trolling or not. In fact--I think I'll ask him, since it means so much to you.
EDIT: here's the PM I just sent Patters asking for clarification/mod's opinion.

Hi, good morning (afternoon, depending on when you read this!), I was wondering if I could trouble you for a a 'mod's opinion' of something please?
In ww83's thread about the VA being told to stop diagnosing PTSD, I posted a story I'd read the other day, related to PTSD, about how the military was considering awarding Purple Hearts based on PTSD and other psychological impairments. I even posted the story from thinkprogress.com, no little green footballs or fox news...meanwhile, wes is now accusing me of being "a TROLL" for posting that related story in his thread.
So that's my question. Is posting something relating to the original topic trolling? I don't see how it could be.
I know that frequently down here threads get completely taken over and spun out of all control, and I know I'm as guilty of that as anyone else here, but I fail to see how I'm wrong in this instance.
Thank you.
