Kennedy on Patriots issue
Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff May 15, 2008 04:00 PM
Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) said yesterday that he feels there should be an independent investigation of the New England Patriots' videotaping procedures, similar to what took place in baseball with the Mitchell report.
The following are the thoughts of Massachusetts senator Edward Kennedy (D-Ma.) regarding the issue.
“With the war in Iraq raging on, gasoline prices closing in on $4 a gallon, and Americans losing their homes at record rates to foreclosure, the United States Senate should be focusing on the real problems that Americans are struggling with," Kennedy said in a written response to a question posed by a Globe reporter. "I’m looking forward to another great Patriots season where they can let their play on the field speak for itself.”
Kennedy and Specter sit together on the 19-member Senate Judiciary Committee.

I'm not a huge Ted Kennedy fan, but I am definitely going to vote for him in his next election for Senate. With the additional Pats fans support, he should go from winning 90% of the vote to 92% of the vote in the next election.
Kennedy is a Democrat and Specter is a Republican - no big surprise here. What is needed is a Senator from somewhere other than Massachusetts or New England area needs to say something - someone who isn't a homer. Kennedy's past doesn't give him much leverage in any discussion about investigations.
