So now they want to ban out of season produce?
This stuff is truly bizarre. This is such a head scratching movement that words really can't describe how extreme it's followers have become. So now this guy is meeting with the British Prime Minister cuz he wants out of season produce banned, and restaurants fined? WTF?
After reading the guy's rant about produce, something Bill Cosby once said, came to mind.
"Asparagus, asparagus just put us on your table! Asparagus, asparagus, we'll make you feel more able!"

Hope that ice cream is local Bill! Better yet, where's the pudding pop?

Gordon Ramsay says he does not want to see asparagus served in December
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay says British restaurants should be fined if they serve fruit and vegetables which are not in season.
He told the BBC that fruit and vegetables should be locally-sourced and only on menus when in season.
Mr Ramsay said he had already spoken to Prime Minister Gordon Brown about outlawing out-of-season produce. He says it would cut carbon emissions as less food would be imported and also lead to improved standards of cooking.
............
"There should be stringent laws, licensing laws, to make sure produce is only used in season and season only," he said. "If we don't restrict our movements within this industry of seasonal-produce only, then the whole thing will spiral out of control."

This excerpt from a different article should shock no one. Do as I say, and not as I do!
Quote:
"If everyone switched one 100 watt light bulb for a low-energy one, UK emissions could be cut by almost five times as much as would be saved by not purchasing fresh fruit and vegetables from Africa."
Even Ramsay's own restaurants, which include the newly opened Plane Food at Heathrow airport's Terminal 5, would fall foul of his suggestion.
