Default Ron Paul's forces...

Ron Paul's forces quietly plot GOP convention revolt against McCain
Quote:
Virtually all the nation's political attention in recent weeks has focused on the compelling state-by-state presidential nomination struggle between two Democrats and the potential for party-splitting strife over there.

But in the mTexas Rep. Ron Paul and his libertarian-minded GOP backers are collecting delegates at the local level and planning a revolt against Sen. John McCain at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul in Septembereantime, quietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain when Republicans gather for their national convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September.

and this, from the realclearpolitics blog:

Quote:
Paul Still Running
Not only has Rep. Ron Paul's ongoing presidential candidacy continued to record a substantial vote against John McCain in primary elections, but Paul advocates also forced an unprepared Nevada Republican Party establishment to abruptly adjourn last month's state convention in Reno selecting delegates to the national convention. The meeting has not yet been reconvened.

With a majority at the state convention supporting Paul, several national convention delegates pledged to the insurgent candidate were ready to be elected. State Sen. Bob Beers, the state convention chairman, abruptly adjourned the session. He later explained, "We were overtime on our contract for our convention space" and "were paying our stagehands and audio-video technicians overtime."

I can't stand looking at him (Paul) but given the choice of voting for one of these other "Three A$s Holes" I will vote for Ron Paul.

The Republicans DESTROYED themselves when they chose the old "Closet Liberal Democrat" Mccain.

BILL COSBY FOR PRESIDENT

Good, because McCain sucks. The problem is Obama and Hilary suck more than McCain.

Will Rush eventually anoint McCain?? As he promised he would anoint the next Republican Pres. Candidate... Paul will certainly not be anointed.

Not all libertarians have the exact same principles. Some people think we're some monolithic group who are in step with every party plank, but I'm sure not.

Barr is too much of an absolutist on states rights, IMO. For instance, he thinks states should be able to either legalize drugs or keep them criminalized. That position brings into play problems of inter-state commerce. What is legally trades, sold, and used should be consistently enforced between all states IMO.

He also is in favor of the "Defense of Marriage Act" which is a blatant violation of civil liberties and libertarianism. He believes that states should either be able to legalize or ban same-sex marriage. I believe that all levels of government should stay out of the personal lives of adults.

Of course, I agree with his criticism of Bush, the "war", and the Patriot act.

I think he's a bit of a nut on some other issues. I wouldn't vote for him.
