Default Number of people admitting to being Republican is at 16-year low

GOP getting crushed in polls, key races

Come to think of it, I *have* seen a marked decline in "W" stickers lately.

Don't buy the rightwing spin. The supposed "lost seats" are held by people who are Republicans in every relevant way except name. Fewer people claim to be Republican only so that they can distance themselves from the now undeniable incompetence and corruption of the Bush administration (i.e. "I didn't vote for Bush", "I reluctantly voted for Bush because the Democrats had a crappy candidate", blah, blah ). However, the majority of so called "independents" are righwingers in disguise. The polls in November will show this when McCain wins an overwhelming majority.

He's not running for anything, remember? So why have a "W" sticker?

Republicans aren't like Democrats where they keep the "Gore/Leiberman" stickers on their cars forever.

And the last poll you posted, they had about 25% more Democrats in the poll than Republicans. Think that affects the outcome?

Even in the military, it's down to 47%. Bush is obviously the best thing to happen to Democrats in years.

I had a Clinton for Senate bumpersticker that someone in Cambridge ripped off my car. It made me tempted to put my last Jimmy Carter for President bumpersticker on.

So you guys admit you store them and hoard them?

I've seen some new model year Volvos and Saabs with Kerry stickers on them...it's weird.

I worked on the Carter campaign. I was a paid organizer in upstate New York. Got the job as a result of volunteer work I did for the Ted Kennedy for President campaign. Boy, the one thing I learned from my political work is that politics is much more corrupt at the local level than at the federal level. In the Kennedy-Carter primary race, I knew first hand of felony election fraud, but was too young and naive to realize how serious it was. In the Carter-Reagan race, I used to get parking tickets all the time and give them to the mayor of Albany, Erastus Corning, who ran a true Democratic machine. All I have left from those days is my Jimmy Carter bumpersticker.

I had a Bush-Gore 2000 sticker on my car, but it never got ripped off because most people didn't get it.
