You are dumb like a fox harry, this is about races not getting along not about racism.. not sure what liberals think, but this american thinks it is about stuff that has happened for a long time in american history.. and will probably continue to happen without regard for whoever is in the whitehouse or governors mansion.. tensions arise in the cities and crap happens. Does not make it good or right, those who instigated it should be held accountable...

Thats a good one 15, "races not getting along" I would love to have heard what they were calling each other while they were beating the ***** out of each other.

If a group of Hispanics in a school cafeteria choose to sit together and a group of blacks do the same it is "races not getting along" but if a group of whites enter the cafeteria and sit with other whites I would assume that our "socialist politically correct do-gooders" would immediatelly call that "Racism".

This goes on in prisons all across America, the inmates band together with others of their own race but only Whitey is called "racist".

Racism is about power. For instance, in Zimbabwe where there are still 40,000 whites, they have to pick and choose where they live, where they go, who they see, and what they do. If they make the wrong decision, it could put them in danger. Thus, they band together and probably find ways to fight the black government, but they are not racist. They band together for reasons of self protection and survival. The same is true with minority groups here (though things are not nearly as bad here as they are in Zimbabwe).

As for the the article, there's not enough information to know if it's racism or ignorance. Now Harry, let's suppose you and your buddies got into an argument with a Jew and then beat up a few of the guy's Jewish buddies, would it be anti-Semitism or simply a brawl? We wouldn't know the answer to that unless we knew what the argument was about, would we? If the argument had been about the Patriots, then the guy's religion would have no relevance.

That would probably be racism because there's a clear power differential. Although we've made progress, overall it's still better to be white in the society than black.

The white people in Zimbabwe aren't racist, so does that mean the blacks are?

And I just don't believe racism is a function of power. Power is no doubt a component, but if you don't like someone simply because they're a different race, you're racist, period.

Now, in Harry's example, if the fight started because one of the hispanics used the n word, or one of the black people said wetback or something...then that's racism as well.

I just don't understand how you feel comfortable assigning racism so clearly and simply to "power".

I can not like white people who are more powerful than I am, but that doesn't make me racist.

So what happens in your view if Barack Obama becomes president? At that point, if I don't like him, am I racist because whites still have more power, or does racism cease because a black man is the most powerful in the free world?
