As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on Europe, with jurisdiction over NATO, he has held not a single oversight meeting because, as he admitted, he was too busy running for president, even though NATO's presence in the Afghanistan war is critical to success in that venture.

I brought this same issue us back in February but most seemed to avoid the topic like the plague.
Is Barak Obama Inexperienced or Indifferent to foreign Policy?

With the seating of the new Congress in January of 2007, Barak Obama became the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Subcommittee on European Affairs. This committee’s responsible is overseeing the US relations with countries in Europe, the role of NATO and the joint cooperation of security of the US and Europe. Obviously the committee would be involved in a diverse range of issues of joint US/European cooperation from the role of NATO forces in Afghanistan, issues of Global Warming, threats of terrorism on the continent of Europe as well as the lending guidance to the fledging nations of Democracy that dot the European landscape. How is it that the Chairman of this Senate committee has not adjourned a single meeting in the year plus that he has been in charge?
|
Those that want to get past the issues of race and religion, how about trying to justify the question as to why Obama does not see it fit to adjourn his committe to discuss NATO'S role in Afghanistan. As chairmen of the committee it would create the perfect forum for him to exercise his leadership on the matter.
