How do they do it? How do the Democrats manage to squander repeatedly and with such ease the chance of a lifetime? What inverse alchemy have they created that turns the gold bullion of electoral opportunity into the base metal of political oblivion?
Eight years of George Bush, an unpopular war and a recession have handed the Democrats their best chance, not merely of winning their first presidential election in 12 years, but of achieving a rare, once-in-a- generation transformational shift in American politics.
Four fifths of the American public think the country is on the wrong track. The President wallows in the highest disapproval ratings since polling began. The Republican Party has spent most of a decade bungling almost everything it touches, abandoning its principles and sinking into a mire of corruption, hypocrisy and incompetence.
And here we are, six months from a presidential election, and it is the Democrats once again who seem to be staring defeat in the face. It's like a soccer match in which one team keeps conceding a penalty in the final minutes only to watch as the opponents repeatedly boot the penalty kick high into the stands.
Don't get me wrong ... I like Hillary but if she doesn't get some help we're stuck with Dr. Dementia for 4 years ... ouch.

You are right. She needs some help. She is without a doubt the best and most intelligent of the three major candidates.
Is she perfect? Hell no. But she is the best of the three.
And its about time that the DNC and Howard Dean and others stepped in and said to the democratic delagates that she is the one that stands the best chance of winning and that is what needs to be the priority picking the candidate that can win, and nothing else.

Barck had his chances, he blew it.
I really wish they would. Considering how cranky Al and Jesse get, it would be such a fun few weeks.
And it would tear the Democrat party apart.
And maybe...just maybe...you'd find BHO running as an Independent , with Mikey Bloomberg as his veep, funded solely by Bloomer's money.
Far fetched? Bloomers has reportedly talked about it.

Obama/Hillary
The American people will never elect one of these people as president of the United States.
It will be Gore/Kerry all over again.
In their Liberal Eagarness to shove a Women or a Minority down the throats of the American people they have blown another Chance for a decent Patriotic, Working Mans Democrat to be elected President of the USA.
It's the media and the Democrats that are making all the noise now, most of America's voting people are sitting home and SILENTLY watching the "Democrat Circus" they will make themselves heard in November, they will never support one of these two grinning hand clapping clowns.
The people will elect the old (Closet Democrat) who looked the other way while 12 million criminal illegal aliens invaded America.
America had decent strong Americans in both party's and also independents who wanted this job and look what we wind up with.
It's sad.

She probably is the most intelligent of the three. Afterall, Moe was smarter than Larry & Curly.
The problem with her is that she's also the most evil, conniving, deceitful, fony, fraudulent, corrupt, lying, inexperienced, polarizing, fake, self-centered, egotistical, loser, POS people ever to run for president.
Did I miss anything?

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897

Those are all good qualities for a President ... it has gotten us this far hasn't it ...

Replace the her with a him, and you pretty much describe the qualities of the person occupying the white house as long as I can remember... they are all this way a bunch of money grubbing whores who would sell their mother for a vote...

Obama is likeable and charismatic. He also seems intelligent and down to earth. His politics seem almost identical to Clinton's.
Hillary seems all the things recently said about her, and seems more that way each time she appears on television.
Right now, Obama has that Wright albatross around his neck, and Hillary is harping on "electability."
And meanwhile, some white haired guy who is to the right of Bush about Iraq, although he does not know the difference between Sunni and Shi'a extremist groups, touts his experience and international savvy.
Just point me to the "D" lever in the voting booth and let me go home.

You would actually vote for a guy who has been hanging out with and listening to anti-semites for 20 years.

I would. I don't consider Wright an anti-Semite, though he does recognize that the Palestinians are entitled to some human rights, too. To me, that's a very principled Jewish stand, not some neo-nationalist tripe like the right-wing spouts. The love Israel/hate the Palestinians crap that you seem to espouse is far more anti-Semitic. It is sure to further conflict and lead to the death of more and more Jews (and Palestinians). Also, let's remember it's thanks to the Republicans, often in the past thought as anti-Semitic, that the balance of power in the Middle East has shifted strongly in favor of Iran. I wouldn't trust anyone who says Republican policies have made Israel safer. The region needs to be normalized, and the Repubicans have set that back by a generation with their disaster in Iraq. Obama is just the man who can get both sides to the table and bring about peace, though anyone would be better than 100-years-war McCain.
