Definitely...as long as someone is making a move to use it on the cop or someone else. If not, the cop should be able to go to the person and confiscate it (or tell the to put it down first at gunpoint!). Except in New York, where SOP is to empty 50 rounds into anyone carrying a Swiss Army Knife or worse. Excuse me, I forgot. No weapon is necessary at all in NYC. You just have to be out too late.

I agree, wouldn't that guy in NY still be with us if he done what you and I would have done, simply do what the Cop tells you to do.

Cop goes home safe, perp goes home safe, it's that simple.

Yes, you're probably right.
He also would have been alive if he had stayed home that night, but he didn't.
He also would have been alive if cops hadn't blown him away, unarmed, with 50 rounds.
He also more likely would have been alive today if he was being stopped by more experienced level headed cops. He probably should have been left alone as there was apparently nothing happening in the first place. These kids on the force today are too agressive. They're usually the ones on the *****tiest shifts, too, when there's the most potential for this happening.
By the way...the cops DID go home safe.
There was no "perp" because there was no crime other than a car accident.

You are right that he would have been alive if he obeyed the cops. Doesn't mean he had to die, though.

I really don't like most cops. There are very very few good ones left. The new breed is going to cause problems unless they learn to mellow down. I understand that in a more urban area they need to be more on edge, but I think they cause more problems than they solve a lot of times.

I've had cops pull their guns on me for zero reason, which I take great offense to, and I had a cop shove me...physically shove me a couple of years ago (long story short, tenant dispute, they left stuff in the apartment past the 30 days, tried to accuse me of stealing it, called the cops, he said he was going to go look, I said he wasn't as it was private property, the rental period had ended and he should escort the tenant away and we'd make arrangements for the remaining things to be picked up...). They're getting far far too carried away, and the endless barrage of "supercop" tv shows and movies doesn't help.

And despite what Harry says, you can do everything right and still wind up in trouble with a cop.

And you know what? It shouldn't matter. If a cop doesn't know the law, it doesn't matter.

And most cops don't know the laws. I've actually had conversations with them when they try to tell me stuff and I'll say "RSA xyz.3" and they look at me like I've got a third eye.

I've taken to printing out the pages and highlighting them.

Last time a cop tried to argue with me (it was something stupid like parking rules) I quoted him the ordanance and he actually told me "well, now you're talking about things that are better left unsaid."
Unsaid? The law is better left unsaid?

I come from another "Era", a long time ago, I have had Cambridge Cops beat the living ***** out of me then throw me down the ramp (police station) with nose bleeds and black eyes then several years later in my mid twenties my wife and myself would be drinking with the same Cops that used me for a punching bag and their wives at party's, I have attended the weddings of some of their children, I have gone to their funerals.

Many of todays Cops have probably heard this and Ted Williams no doubt has heard it many times, I have had Cambridge Cops tell me after they have retired that throughout their whole career during the thirties, forties and fifties they had never had to take their gun out of it's holster while on the streets.

There are bad and good in every profession (remember that when you fly ) but as for Cops using their weapons today they have a far different and violent society than they did fifty years ago, pulling a gun or a knife on a cop was very rare (the bank robbers of the thirties was the exception) today every scumbag dude has a gun and they ready and willing to use it, shooting a cop was a no no years ago even in organized crime, today in this f-cked up society with it's gang bangers, drug dealers and "Dudes" shooting a cop is a "trophy"

If I were a Cop out on the street at 3:00 AM and ordered a "dude" to halt and if the "dude" put his hand in his pocket and gave me some ***** I would SHOOT the "dude" in a heartbeat, todays permissive liberal slobbering over criminals has created the "Cop Killer Dudes", well they wouldn't kill me without a fight.

When the "Dude" gets killed there is outrage from the liberal media for weeks.

When the "Cop" gets killed it is buried on the back page with the Used Cars for one day.
