Default high school kid led into drug deal by principal

http://www.concordmonitor.com/apps/p...PAGE/804170415

This happened in Concord, NH, at Bishop Brady HS (the joint they dumped me into).

It's a long article, but the gist of it is that a kid at Brady had his cell phone confiscated by the principal. Once she had it in her possession, she started going through the contacts (her story is she was going to call other brady students and get them in trouble for having phones at school), she found where he'd been talking with another kid (txting) about maybe buying pot. So she pretended to be the kid, set up the whole deal, and then called the cops. So the kid was arrested for selling drugs on school grounds.

The ACLU is trying to weasel around it. I'm shocked they're not outraged.

Thoughts?

Did not see anything about the ACLU in this article, without regard it is entrapment pure and simple... this case has no legs and will only prove to be an embarassment to the school system.

That's weird. The article has been re-written, but I can't find anything that says "updated" like most news organizations. They've added a lot of new detail to the "crime" itself--most all of page 2 is new--and taken out all the stuff about the ACLU.

Now, why would they have taken out all the stuff where the ACLU said they didn't know...it was on school grounds blah blah?

Strange case. I could see the ACLU getting involved on grounds that the principal violated the kids' privacy by looking into his cellphone. But, I think the principal was foolish for getting the police involved, because now it moves the whole issue into the framework of our legal system, which in this case might do more harm than good. She should have called the drug dealer, told him to get to her office this instant, and read him the riot act. I think she created a nightmare for the DA.
