Yes, that's my understanding of the current dominators of the debate on "evolution", whether is be "lots of TV yuks with R. Dawkins and his fellow traveler, Bill Maher" or whomever stands at the lecture podium today. These folks adhere passionately to a materialist world view. They have no time or place for God in their view of life. Very, very INtolerant, from what I've seen. Maybe al qaeda or the taliban can educate them???? Who knows.

The leading proponents of Evolution are neo Darwinist. Just as ther is a difference between Findie Christians who go with a literal interpatation of the bible and those who doubt materialist evolution.

God I hate "neo" anything.

I don't like it when PC and the rest accuse everyone with any sort of rightward bent as "NeoCons" and I don't like seeing "NeoDarwinist" either.

Darwinism was racist and classist. Darwin didn't explain anything, and later in life he changed his mind about some of his earlier stuff.

Big deal.

He also opened a door that's led to some interesting discoveries.

I think the neo darwinist coined the term for themselves. It is a big deal in the sense that big stuff is being discussed, the nature of life and the universe. No creator, no intelligence, vs a living universe with intelligence.

That is why passions are arouned, fromthe POV of many this is an attempt to make an athestic materialist universe the scientific 'truth'.

Thsi at a stage when evolution is a theory not a law... Then there is the issue of the intellectual stalinism that seeks to circumscribe what research and apppraoches to these issues are legitimate and who are not.

Thsi BTW is the crux of Stein's movie (along with a pitch against materialism.)
