Default Obama Wouldn't Be Where He Is But For Race

Quote:
Wading back into the Democratic presidential race, billionaire businessman Bob Johnson said Monday that Sen. Barack Obama would not be his party's leading candidate if he were white.

Johnson's comments to the Observer echoed those of former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro. She stepped down as an adviser to Sen. Hillary Clinton last month after saying Obama wouldn't be where he is if he were white.

"What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant is that if you take a freshman senator from Illinois called `Jerry Smith' and he says I'm going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote?" Johnson said. "And the answer is, probably not... ."

"Geraldine Ferraro said it right. The problem is, Geraldine Ferraro is white. This campaign has such a hair-trigger on anything racial ... it is almost impossible for anybody to say anything."

Guess it's okay for him to say it, huh?

Except Obama didn't start off with 90% of the black vote, Clinton did.

Of course the same thing is true for McCain. If he was black, he would not be the Republican nominee.

Odd that you'd go there.

Not that long ago people were talking of drafting Condi Rice. Books were written, the question was posed to her on every one of the Sunday shows, until she said flatly she wasn't running, period.

winner winner chicken dinner!

If I could Fart money, I'd be rich!!!!!!

seriously,

Hillary Clinton wouldn't be where she is if she wasn't married to the president.

John McCain wouldn't be where he is if he didn't change his views to be more conservative than when he was......a maverick.

These predictions of things we will never know are nothing more than wheel spinning on the treadmill to oblivion.

now, lets talk about topics, not unprovable futures and pasts.

DUMB.

That's a little overdramatic. Somehow I doubt books were written specifically to pontificate the possibility of Condi running. And "every one of the Sunday shows?" LOL

Regardless, Condi Rice wouldn't stand a chance. Her history of bullshyt lies and her piss-poor handling of pre 9/11 intel are very well-documented.

She was smart to turn the speculation off early. Period.

Speculation drummed up by chickenhawkish GOP think tanks, no doubt. They probably all sit at home and self-pleasure themselves to photos of Condi and Ann C each and every day.

I've tried to figure out that comment each time that its been said. Let's review, Obama is white, but maintains all his other characteristics, schooling, and experience. Given that scenario, Obama would be haled as the next JFK and Clinton never gets past New Hampshire. Currently, the biggest obstacle in which Obama faces is his skin. That is what is reviewed during each state's primary, how many white votes did Obama receive. It is why he will not do well in some southern states. Actually, the statement is correct (Obama wouldn't be where he is but for race), he would already be the nominee and the election would go to him in a landslide.

My point with posting it was that this gentleman has not only said the same thing that caused poor Ms. Ferraro to be raked over the coals but forced out of her position in the HRC campaign, he also said she was right.

So I'm curious about any potential outrage stemming from him saying it.
