Default La-Z-Boy, Whirlpool Moving Hundreds Of Jobs To Mexico

La-Z-Boy and Whirlpool are moving jobs to new plants in Mexico, bringing job losses to hundreds of workers in Dayton and Cleveland.
La-Z-Boy employees in Dayton were told today that the cutting and sewing operation is being moved to Mexico.
Kathy Liebmann, La-Z-Boy spokesperson, said the Dayton facility has over 2,000 employees, but she did not have a breakdown on those in cutting and sewing. A La-Z-Boy employee said it was around 750.
Ms. Liebmann said La-Z-Boy is closing a plant at Tremonton, Utah, but will keep its other plants open, including the one at Dayton. She said the 400 production jobs at the Utah plant will be spread over the other five plants.
She said workers in cutting and sewing will have an opportunity to train for available production jobs.
Ms. Liebmann said the Mexico plant is slated to open in January.

In the end whose going to buy all the foriegn made goods? Not the people who's jobs were out-sourced. Then they can only run up so much credit before de-faulting.
Corporate greed is going to be one of the down-falls of this country.

One of many. Worse is that NAFTA was supposed to be a boon to Mexico. Friendlier trade would allegedly mean less illegals running across the border sucking our social services dry, while depressing the wages of working americans. LOLOLOLOL. This country can't get anything right.

Could this lead to another depression?
Loss of jobs, stagnent wages lay-offs more and more people de-faulting on they're mortgages, car loans, and credit cards. Inflation has doubled in the last 2 years. The bottom line as it was in 1928-29 is that in both cases there came a point when not enough consumers could afford to by goods and servacies, and buisness's collapsed. For every manufacturing job lost it affects (7) other jobs. And I've been watching it happen for the last ten years. I stand by my idea that sometime soon something has to happen to stop what has been going on,or the cosequenses could be bleak.

Mexico's is so corrupt that only a handfull of the citizens have any money. You're either rich or poor. And the rich want to send the poor here so WE can take care of them. Maybe instead of invading Iraq we should have invaded Mexico. Just kidding sort of.
