Default Where was the Tea Party 10 years ago?

Or even 5 years ago? Bush cut taxes, started two unfunded wars, and gets a free pass from the the tea party folks. Whats up with that?

You can go back in time - protest what he did and change everything?
The democrats were just as guilty voting yes to those war funding bills laden with pork.
Lots of threads about Obama and Bush but the real culprit is Congress and the Senate.

Better IMO to put the heat on Congress and the Senate to be accountable and even that will have only a marginal benefit.

10 years ago we were still riding the wave of boom, even though things were changing.. there was no vested interest by the corporatists to fund a group of people who wanted to start a third party. They also knew that the previous administration was doing everything possible to deregulate this country, and the massive amounts spend on homeland security and defense made them all profitable.

Politically we were reeling from the 9/11 events, and were being led to a war based on lies that eventually would almost bankrupt this country.

Nothing is looked at alone, everything has a context.

We were also busy deciding what to do w/the Clinton surplus. Answer: "put $ back in the hands of the people! Hoorayyy!"

Situation: more $ than we need for one year, debt long term.
Solution: cut taxes!

Situation: changed economic conditions and insane war mongering mean giant deficits.
Solution: cut taxes!

Situation: because of one size fits all knee-jerk borrow-and-spend conservatism, debt approaches 100% of GDP.

Solution: cut taxes!

The teabaggers have always been there. They're one wing of the republican base, the do-idiotic-thing-because-we-can't-do-math, or populist, wing.

The other wing is dedicated to bad policy out of selfish desire to polarize a society's wealth, but there are few enough in the part of society that benefits, that they need and will always need the idiotic base.

Nowadays we call them the "tea party."
