Note that Uncle Sam was drawn on the GOP side ... interesting in that perhaps that also applies today.

No...it was actually factual backt then. over 90% of this nation was Christian back then. So although we weren't a Christian nation, for Americans to think/believe we were is just natural.

I think PFinV is referring to the anti-Semitic undertones of that particular 'toon. (The Rotschilds being a prominent and successful Jewish family).
