Default Reliant Stadium's Gonna Look

pretty empty tomorrow. 63,500 empty seats worth of unsold, in fact.

Only 8,000 tickets have been sold for Rick Perry's Christian Only "Day of Prayer" tomorrow.

After viewing the endorsers and the line up, I can kind of understand why.

Rev. Doug Stringer who claims the September 11th attacks were God's punishment for immoral behavior like homosexuality:

California pastor Jim Garlow, who's suggested that legalizing gay marriage would be similar to 9/11—because it, too, would destroy families:

Cindy Jacobs, a minister who explained that the recent unexplained bird deaths were God's punishment for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Alice Patterson who says that the Democratic Party is "an invisible network of evil."

Someone named Fischer, whose organization is footing the bill for the event, wants whales and grizzly bears to be stoned to death. When a whale at Sea World killed its trainer in 2010, Fischer called for the beast to be ritually stoned to death because (quoting Exodus) "When an ox gores a man or woman to death the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten." And after a string of maulings in the mountain west last summer, Fischer called the grizzly "a fierce, savage unstoppable killing machine" that should be shot on sight.

Rev. John Hagee, who's stated that Hurricane Katrina was God's way of getting back at the city for embracing the gay community.

Dr. John Benefiel
who believes that a secret cabal of global eletes (whom he refers to as "The Illuminati") are planning to use homosexuality to reduce the global population to about 500 million people:

Intercessors for America, an official endorser of The Response, believes that federal government is developing technology to implant micro-chips in all citizens as a form of mind-control.

Mike Bickle, who states, "I believe that one of the main pastors, as a forerunner to the Harlot movement, it's not the Harlot movement yet, is Oprah. She is winsome, she is kind, she is reasonable, she is utterly deceived, utterly deceived. A classy woman, a cool woman, a charming woman, but has a spirit of deception and she is one of the clear pastors, forerunners to the Harlot movement."

C. Peter Wagner, a Colorado-based preacher whose endorsement is touted by the event's organizers, believes that the Japanese earthquake was a consequence of its godless religious customs.

And last, but certainly not least, we have, once again, Reverend Benefiel, who believes Lady Liberty is a demonic idol. As he told the International House of Prayer, "We don't get liberty from a false goddess folks, we get our liberty from Jesus Christ."

Amen.

Hopefully the fact that they've only sold 8,000 seats means that virtually no one else does, either.

Which means there's still hope for America.

There will be a whole lot more, they can bring in homeless folks, and sure there are many christian camps that will gladly truck their kids in for a day of religious slobbering and homophobia..

What makes that figure even more ridiculous is the size of some of the "mega-churches" around Texas. I'd think there are many in the Houston area alone with congregations much larger than that.

I watched Hardball tonight (don't kill the messenger) and was appalled by the clips of those "clergymen". Rick Perry, seriously? He initiates a prayer gathering (marriage act, and I'll raise you a sermon), then for an extra special touch, he invites extremists to speak at the gathering (please voice your opinion if you do not think these preachers are extremists). What is hilarious, in a state where even the smallest dot on the map has 1/2 a dozen churches, he can't draw 10,000 people in one of the nation's largest cities.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. I lived in Texas and had to travel to Waco for "nightlife". Baylor was the school of note in that town. Not only did they not drink, but it was also prohibited to dance (since that time they have rescinded the dancing law). How about textbooks? You would think with all of the creation correctness that is mandated for high school textbooks, that the Gov. could corral more then 8,000 fanatics.

Funny thing about most religious events is you don't make money selling beer either ...
