Why the hell should it be illegal? It's not against the law. Comcast did nothing wrong.

Got it, Unoriginal.

This is the Corporation that blindsided the Patriots 48 hours before the Super Bowl. These people play a VERY down and dirty game. There is a list a mile long on these creatures and their arrogance knows no limit.
Arrogance isn't a crime either. There's nothing wrong with believing you're the best, and quite frankly, Comcast is. Especially in this debate, as their assets are far greater than that of anyone on the net neutrality side.

If the net neutrality people were so smart and so right, wouldn't they be running a successful multi-billion dollar company in the same field? I'm sick and tired of populist Joe Schmoes trying to legislate their way to getting what they want. Either found a company that does things the way you want, take over Comcast with a buyout, or shut up. That's what America is all about, the free market. What I see is a bunch of consumers trying to turn the market to their advantage not through purchasing power, but by enacting burdensome and regulartory legislation.

Ha ha!!! You wrote: "I'm sick and tired of populist Joe Schmoes trying to legislate their way to getting what they want." Have you no sense of irony, Arlen?

.....or maybe your idea of Capitalism is to grease a Senator's palms with $500,000 plus to wage an all-out campaign against a sports league so you can get further leverage in your economic battles against said league. But of course, COMCAST isn't trying to "legislate their way to getting what they want". Are you trying to be funny, or are you really that lost?

Your argument is for getting to the top through buying off politicians and fake "public" audiences.

Here's something novel, "Adam Smith", how about Comcast succeeding through offering the best product and being efficient?

You are a very confused person if you believe you are fighting the good fight for Capitalism. In fact, you are fighting AGAINST Capitalism.

It's very simple. Good companies and services are rewarded in the free marketplace. It's a meritocracy.

Comcast is an incredibly successful company. In fact, in my area, they are the only company available for high speed internet and cable TV. That's how good their product is.

And you say I should support the anti-Comcast crowd because they didn't leverage their (non-existant) purchasing power to monopolize the commodity chairs in that hearing; non-existant market leverage because those shaggy hippies have never made a decent buck or turned in a hard day's work in the field they want to legislate? Government is not about artifically creating equality in the market, it's about creating freedom.

If you don't like Comcast, don't buy Comcast. If you don't buy Comcast, they won't be able to bribe Congressmen, commodize seats at public hearings, and they'd be more vulnerable to competition. As an American consumer, those are your rights. Learn to use them.

So, come again on WHY Comcast wants to "Legislate their way to getting what they want" (which YOU said is a bad thing earlier) by whining about the NFL's Anti-Trust Exemption?

Isn't the NFL a big, successful organization. Doesn't that make them automatically right in your book? Why is Comcast whining? Aren't they losers for doing that in your book?

Hypocracy. You're tripping over your own arguments. Lemme ask you, what position do you hold over there at the cable company?

I have a neat idea, Unoriginal. Why don't you take your last post and substitute the word "NFL" for "Comcast". Then, substitute the word "Arlen Specter" for "shaggy hippies".

Enlightening, ain't it?

[Edit]In response to Unoriginal's post.

Your logic is too simple. The great flaw in capitalism is the tendency for monopolies to spring up. The argument you put forward is only valid when it pertains to putting out a product, not when it comes down to the control of the playing field, which is what comcast is trying to do.

No, its not enlightening. Comcast is a publically traded and freely available company. When Comcast does well, I as a stock holder do well. That's American. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Apart from the above, I have no dog in the Comcast and NFL fight. As you said, they are both excellent and well respected companies that, through outstanding competitiveness, have attained near-monopolies in their fields. It's when people who are not industrious and have no business in the marketplace try to legislate and hamper free enterprise that my goat gets gotten.

Monopolies are not a flaw. Monopolies are the logical destination of an unfettered and free marketplace. A monopoly is by far the most efficient use of resources in generating profit.

If people were so idealogically driven in their dislike of monopolies, monopolies would never form. Energetic and industrious people would continuous form new companies to dispute and claim marketshare. In a free market, the formation of a monopoly constitutes the consumer's consent to a monopoly.

Comcast is trying to hamper free enterprise on the internet. That's what this is all about. If they get their way, they take choices away from customers and have the ability to penalize or reward internet based business they like or don't like.

If you dislike it, make your own internet service provider. Give as many choices to the consumer as you feel is right. If your product is superior to Comcast, people will buy it and Comcast will either change or go out of business.

Be constructive, not legislative.

Hah... monopolies tip the scales in favor of one supplier and prevent progress and improvement of the product in question. It's one thing if customers flock to one product because it beats out competing products. The whole thing breaks down if they consume it because the company producing the product prevents others from producing a competing product. Then it's no longer a "free" market.
