That's exactly what is done, the top 50% pay 97% of the income tax. However people call that unfair to the bottom 50%. It's truly bizarre.

The wealthy should pay much more. The poor person feels it more because they have far less disposable income. But, you go ahead and defend the idea that taxation should enable the wealthy to have gold bathroom fixtures while poor kids go hungry.

The poor already pay almost nothing. Maybe the Income Tax should pay them . . . oh, that's right, it does.

Property Tax
Gas Tax
Capital Gains (and other investment) Tax
Social Security Tax
Medicare Tax
