the Army takes what they can get. If it were up to me, i would not take a Muslim in any one of our branches. People can call me whatever they want, but i do not trust any Muslim. I know i am painting with a very broad brush, but i just dont trust them. I was in Afghanistan when these dirty bastards tried to kill me, and that i cannot forget or forgive.

For a guy who's usually very reasonable, that's a surprising opinion to hold. I've been screwed over by Christians and Jews repeatedly in business -- doesn't mean I should hold all of them accountable for it.
It's bad he changed his mind - and it's a shame he didn't seem to understand either his commitment to his religion or his commitment to his country before he enlisted - but it seems he's not alone, although it appears more people simply desert than try for CO exemptions.
-- Army desertions have risen 35 percent in the past two years, according to Defense Department figures. The number rose from 2,450 in 2004 to 3,301 in 2006.
"In any large group of military, you are always going to have some people change their minds," said Dennis Schulstad, a retired Air Force brigadier general and a former Minneapolis City Council member. Soldiers who desert are only a fraction of the 2.5 million in the military.
But Ronald Krebs, a political science professor at the University of Minnesota, blames the sharp rise on the "unfathomable pressure" that recruiters are now under. He says that forces them to lower standards and recruit people who might be less stable.
"Lower-quality recruits desert at much higher rates than higher-quality recruits," said Krebs, author of "Fighting for Rights: Military Service and the Politics of Citizenship," published last year by Cornell University Press.

I wish i could be more forgiving, but i just cant. I was working with some folks who were providing intel, in the end they set us up and were ambushed. They blew up my Humvee and killed 3 of my Army team members (I was Air Force).
I am not saying what i feel is right or logical, but it will take me a while to get over the hatred.

It is understandable, but you are correct, it is not really logical or right.
If your sister or your mother were murdered by an Israeli Jew - would you hate all American Jews? If a Christian raped your wife, would you hate all Christians?
My father was in WWII - he fought the Japanese - and yet I do not ever recall him hating all Japanese - not even the ones from Japan much less the Japanese/Americans who lived around him.
I have an inlaw who refuses to talk to me or allow her children to meet me because I am not Jewish - according to her, my "people" killed her "people," during the Holocaust. Never mind that "my" people, as in my father (who was wounded) and my uncle (who died there) were fighting to free "her" people......it's enough for her to still hold unto her fear and mistrust.
Where does the world end up when that kind of blind hatred exists throughout the years?
I hope you get over it, BB, I really do. It harms no one but yourself in the long run. A Muslim child born in The United States has nothing in common with the person who killed your friends in a war thousands of miles away from the only world that child knows. That child has done nothing to deserve your mistrust or your hatred. The only person who deserves it is the person who did it.
Of course, I wonder if you feel the same about people of all religions, or if it's just Muslims...
I feel that way if they use their religion as their excuse. I am not like most liberals, if I see the need to criticize a religion I will do it, most liberals seem to cower and hide when it comes to criticizing Muslims but have no problem at all beating up the christians, I have done it many times concerning the Pig Catholic Priests and the Phony Screaming Baptist Bastards.
Of course we all now know that Liberalism has adopted Islam as their new latest "protected spieces" for some strange reason they have dumped Israel and they now embrace Israels enemy, weird brains..........
