I wish you libbies would make your minds up. Just last week we had a post telling us all that the GOP caved in to Obama's demands, and now we have a post saying they are "not willing to budge at all."

So which is it?

What exactly is Obama's plan? They announced that he had $4 trillion in cuts. What are they? The only plan we have to go by is his budget. Any deficit reduction in that? Nope.

So we're blaming Obama for being angry that the lunatics in the House are willing to drive this country off a cliff just so long as they never have to compromise on their anti-tax theology?

Just further evidence that the only things Republicans care about is keeping the wealthy from paying taxes.

According to the Speaker they were willing to add $800B in new revenues by revisions to the tax code.

Obama was going for that until the lunatics on the left (Move On, SEIU, and other far left groups) jumped all over his butt. Then he came back demanding $400B more in actual tax increases. That killed the deal.

So who is willing to drive the country off the cliff with their uncompromising tax and spend theology?

Can't wait for football to start!!

Frankly Obama has expanded spending by close to 40% per years in the past 2 years, the proposal by the pubs reduces that by less than 10% per year going forward, that doesn't seem real extreme as a matter of fact it doesn't seem like enough of a reduction but at least it is a start and it is something that actually passed the house in a bi-partisan vote.

H Reid and them dems in the Senate never passed a budget for fy 2010, they still haven't put anything in writing for the next fiscal year, they haven't made any proposal for dealing with the debt ceiling.

H Reid is a disgrace. So are his dem colleagues in the Senate.

Obama hasn't made public his proposal. The only members of the government to actually put their plan on the record are the House Pubs, Reid won't allow debate much less a vote which the pubs in the Senate would like.

So if there is a gov shutdown it is on H Reid and Obozo for not being serious. IMO they want the default since it worked for Clinton. It is probably the only he copuld win the next election given his dismal performance.

First of all, that was the line out of the Speaker's office, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially when you consider the structure of Reid's failsafe plan. Further, it's abundantly clear that Speaker Boehner has little-to-no control over his caucus, so even if they were to strike such a deal, there's a serious question as to whether it would even pass (and it certainly wouldn't without substantial Democratic support).

Second of all, the Republicans control ONE-THIRD of the government, yet you seem to find it perfectly appropriate that the Democratic President and US Senate accede the lion's share of the concessions in this debate. That's not how negotiations work. Common logic would dictate a 1:1 ration between revenues and cuts, just as specified in the Rivlin-Domenici plan.

Gee, I had no idea when you posted that you were going to blame Obama and the Democrats for this entire mess.

Until you're willing to provide sources for the ridiculous (I would say patently false, but I'm being charitable) claims you make day in and day out, I'm simply not going to respond to your posts from here on out.

If you're talking about CC&B, it DID get a vote, and they voted to table it. Because it's a terrible, godawful, ill-conceived plan with less than a snowball's chance in hell of passing. I assume you'd give Harry Reid some credit for not wasting taxpayer dollars debating that turd.

An argument that Obama actually wants a crisis. Follow his playbook, Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Alinsky is quoted as saying:
Quote:
"The first step in community organization is community disorganization. The disruption of the present organization is the first step toward community organization. Present arrangements must be disorganized if they are to be displace by new patterns.… All change means disorganization of the old and organization of the new."
