We shouldn't even spend time teaching it anymore, it's worthless... nothing worth writing on paper these days is worth writing it in cursive to give other reading it a head ache trying to read someone's butchers cursive handwriting.

Cursive is much faster than "printing"...that's the only advantage. If you printed the same paragraph I wrote in cursive, I'd be finished before you. In printing, you have to take your pen/pencil off the paper for every letter. In cursive you only pick it up between words.

But I'll agree that it's not super important that it continues to be used.

One of my kid's teachers told us that handwriting wasn't as stressed in the curriculum anymore because it used so much less in lieu of keyboards. I remember being graded on my handwriting in elementary school and that grade has disappeared from my childrens' report cards.
