Had we known what was coming (worst recession in history), then I'd say it was bad timing because it resulted in job losses.
I also hate the light the new bulbs give off, but I'll get used to it.
I'm pretty sure Bush knew what was coming back in 2007. We are talking about 200 jobs. 200. That plant was going to be shutdown either way.
The thing that bother me is certain people freaking out about job losses while police, fire and teachers get the axe.

But there is a difference between public sector job losses and private sector ones.
Right..people who lose their public sector jobs don't collect unemployment and add to the unemployment numbers or lose their houses and add to the foreclosure rates or lose their health insurance and join those already on Medicaid.
It's magic that way, isn't it?
Hey, maybe they're not even tax paying, money spending, goods buying neighbors at all.

Yeah. The former doesn't happen except by attrition while the latter happens by cuts all the time. Also, the former has more lucrative retirement, probably leading to people staying on with public sector work at three times the rate of private sector drudgery.
I came across that in my reading, but don't ask me to reference for you, Google Queen.
