What I read somewhere kind of said it best. Florida has a history of charging more than possible to get a plea deal - they use the death penalty as a bargaining chip. But it failed miserably in this case. Perhaps that system works - perhaps not and it failed big time on this one.

As others have said this is a mother and proving mother cases is very, very hard without concrete proof. Just imagining that a mother would kill their child is unimaginable to most of us. That someone would kill for robbery or revenge is so much easier to sell to a jury. there was no history of police to the house for anything she did to her child - the prosecution way overplayed their hand.

How do you prove abuse? They were trying to prove abuse for a child that was deceased. The abuse was her actions after the 16th - how could they prove that? I hope for all concerned that it truly was an accident and they screwed up - it's the most IMO we can hope for.

from the very little I have read, they didnt have any real evidence thag she killed anyone, only that she was a terrible person .

there are more terrible people than her out there... Doesnt mean every bad parent is a killer.

they should have waited to go to trial until they had the evidence.

Exactly, the Media wanted her guilty but the jury took care of that.

Remember all of the "the system works stuff" in the Media with O J Simpson, there were people all across america cheering when his verdict came in, well here we go again.

I can't resist this, "if Casey lived in the horrible middle east she would have been stoned to death 3 years ago" then they would have cut her head off and hung it up on a bridge.
