I didn't say we've never criticized them. I was saying that they are a notable nation we should criticize / pressure if we are going to criticize / pressure nations based on curtailment of civil liberties.


By that reasoning laws sentencing people to death for working on the sabbath and permitting children to be sold would reflect "true Christianity," I guess?

Of course they know, but unless you and others who are upset w/Delta are similarly upset w/all companies doing business w/Saudi Arabia, I think this is much ado over nothing.

To the extent this isn't about visas, it's about transacting with Saudi Arabia at all.

(btw, this isn't just about Jews -- it also said anybody w/non-Islamic items of worship, which I take to mean that a person carrying a bible onto their flight would be forced to leave it or not be permitted onto the plane)

Other companies doing business with Saudi Arabia is one thing. Companies that allow discrimination as part of an agreement to do business with them is another.

If there are American companies doing business with Saudi Arabia that are able to do so without restrictions like these (for ex, sending Jews, women, etc. there), then I change my stance on Delta and agree with you completely.

During Apartheid the US restricted flights in from South Africa because of their discrimination policies. No one is forcing Delta to do business with Saudi Arabia. They freely have jumped in with both feet and then kick the can down the road to absolve themselves. Not buying it.

I ran across this while looking up businesses that have a relationship with them. It's a series of letters to Delta regarding the deal that was struck. Delta sucks IMO. The site is right of center, obviously but it's not Fox news either. Automatically it will be dismissed accordingly and it mentions Sharia-law(which by itself cause liberals to claim victory in a debate)It does seem left of center people want to give Delta a pass on this. Honestly, I don't understand it.

This just brings us back to what I said 2 posts ago. Rather than repeat the back and forth, I'll ask (i) are other American companies doing business with Saudi Arabia are able to do so without restrictions like these? and (ii) if not, are you and other people who are upset w/Delta also upset with those companies? (because this is the first I think I've heard of anybody being upset about this)

If you want to make the case that the US and American companies should stop doing business with Saudi Arabia and other nations under sharia, as was done with South Africa under apartheid, I'm listening (though I'll also ask why that's the line when it comes to nations curtailing individual liberties).

And like I also said before, if the answer to (i) is yes, then I agree with you re Delta.
