You may want to amend that. Alaska is the largest producer of oil in the US with 1/3 of the total. If they are producing 2.5%, that's a total of 7.5% total US production, meaning that we'd be importing 92.5% of the fuel into this country (give 5% to the other states)and while the number is too high, it is certainly not that level.
Oil production statistics - states compared - StateMaster Energy

For a fact check, see the two links below, one from MSNBC from Reuters and the other from Bloomberg, which state that the TransAlaska Pipeline
produces 12-15% of US oil production. That doesn't include offshore Alaskan oil production which doesn't go through the pipeline so Alaska may be producing close to, if not 20% of US oil production.
If you want to claim that while the pipeline was shut down (Jan-now) it only produced 2.5% of US productin, it would be a bit disngenuous.

Alaska pipeline to bypass leak, restart seen - Business - msnbc.com
NEW YORK — Alaska's main oil pipeline was still expected to restart this week with plans to bypass a leaking section that forced the line to shut down on Saturday, idling 12 percent of U.S. oil production, a source familiar with its operations said on Tuesday.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-10/oil-rises-for-second-day-after-alaskan-pipeline-leak-cuts-u-s-s Futures climbed 1.4 percent yesterday after the Trans- Alaska Pipeline System, which carries about 15 percent of U.S. oil output, was shut following a Jan. 8 leak, upplies.html

I'm no Palin fan but I think that while she may not know US history, she does know oil production

So, in summary:

1) wants the GOP to rekindle the Birth Certificate Fiasco

2) Thinks Palin is smart

I support PF13 for Chairman of the Republican National Committee!

(for the same reasons I support Lindsay Lohan becoming Mahmoud Ahmedinejad's new chauffeur)

As H Cain says Obama isn't qualified to run a Godfather Pizza store.
Why would I be afraid of Palin? She cleaned up corruption in Alaska (link please and don't give me your tired, "you prove it" line)?

If you think she would be a great leader I feel sorry for you.

It would be no more disingeneous than claiming that Paul Revere's main mission was to ride through the streets warning the British that the Americans had guns simply because, when captured and threatened, he spilled the beans.

Didn't say she was smart (although I would agree she is. I did say that she knew that QE2 (and QE1 + Stimulus) were gonna fail and said so at the time whereas Obama Geithner and Bernake were clueless.

So it is fair to say that she is much smarter than the President's economic team.

She is using a phantom Presidency run to gain popularity and $$$.

It is my opinion that she has no respect for the job ... whoooosh ... she's a pimp.

And if she ends up running?

She has 3M+ facebook followers.

She may be changing the game by running an unconventional outside the box campaign.

The fact that the establishment inside the beltway crowd on both sides of the aisle speaks well of her.
