To me, it's akin to smoking pot...they're both illegal, but people don't seem to mind.

Prostitution is legal, and very regulated, in most Industrial Nations. USA? Not so much. If a guy wants to pay for sex then good for him, but if a guy (Vitter) preaches about "family values" then bangs high priced hookers then that's not cool.

The sexting stuff doesn't bother me at all. To me it seems like Wiener needed titillation more than anything else.

You are missing the point Crybaby Boner is calling for the resignation of Weiner, but is silent on Vitter and Ensign.. that would be called duplicity.

Everything. He admitted that he frequented prostitutes in early July, 2007. A week later he (with his wife at his side) gave a press conference in which he admitted it again and begged forgiveness.

The thread I referenced was started on 8/31/07 - anyone posting in it should have known he admitted frequenting high end prostitutes.

And calling numbers you find on the internet or getting from a bellboy in a strange hotel so you can arrange to pay for sex with a complete stranger doesn't reek of shady and secretive?

Probably a good idea.

Be that as it may - the congressman in question was not single. He had a wife and four children so the issue here is moot.
