There is such a wide spectrum, to only give a few options is flawed.
Independent doesn't describe your politics, it has more to do with your faith int he existing parties and their management.

There is a lot of ground in between... my preference is independent, i.e. vote for the person not the platform..

I am comfortable with it, even though I am left leaning with strong liberatarian tendencies, there have been plenty of democrats that I would never vote for, otoh have voted republican several times.

Perhaps non affiliation is a better word....

I vote many times for democrats in local elections, there are still a lot of sensible (non loon) democrats out there but we seldom hear of them, The Obama Democrat Media trys to hide them.

Yes and may I add support issues independent of what a party wishes you to support. This country would be far better off if less people supported the political party platforms. Take that platform support away and they end up weaker ... which is what we need IMO.

I think Patters (maybe he can verify) intentionally didn't use "Democrat" or "Republican" specifically to stay away from the partisan thing. I think he wanted us to choose our philosophies on politics beyond party.

Anyway, I voted libertarian, but I am not wholly convinced that some libertarian philosophies would work in our world. I am usually conservative leaning libertarian over authoritarian, though I sympathize sometimes with leftist opinions.

i have to vote democrat more often than i would prefer ... my town government is all democrats and the state - Rhode Island is heavy democrat also. I don't have to vote democrat of course but if i want my vote to count towards something then I must vote in the democratic primary. I have never voted in the GOP primary in my life - too bad we cannot vote in each at primary time. In my town our primary election is the main election as our GOP party could not even win a school election if it had to.

I spent a lot of time in Rhode Island when I was working, I was a truck driver for Star Market they had stores in quite a few towns down there, your right about it being democrat.
