U.S. Gripped by Cold From Minus 36 Degrees in Minnesota to Snow in Mississippi

Much of the country is paralyzed in a deep freeze, thanks to a jet stream pumping arctic air from the northern polar regions south.

How cold is it? It's so cold in Chicago, Lake Michigan froze.
