Default NYT Partisanship over Principle

Here's a good one for the people in the anti-Bush camp. A familiar post in this forum is one concerning Bush and his craving for and abuse of power.

This writer catches the NYT not practicing what they preach.

What do you think?

The New York Times has been on a multi-year campaign to restrict the executive powers of President Bush. The paper has goaded Congressional Democrats (and wayward Republicans) to take on Bush and enact measures that tie his hands. The paper has basically called upon the Lilliputians to bind Gulliver.

Now the paper looks ahead to the next President (likely a Democrat) and calls upon that President to be given powers to unilaterally makes decisions regarding Iraq. One can surmise that the paper is calling for the next president to be given unlimited power to withdraw without conditions. That is the type of unfettered Presidential power that meets with approval from the Times, which looks like it is placing partisan goals over any type of principle regarding the balance of powers.

Has the ownership of the NYT goaded congress, or is that just talking about the editorial pages? If its the editorials there's nothing wrong with that, if it was ownership trying to pressure Congress that would be a different story.

Who mentioned Congress?

The post shows one instance of the hypocrisy of the media.

As far as it's opinion ... sure ... they have that right.

The quote you have says they've "goaded congressional Democrats (and wayward Republicans) to take on Bush and enact measures that tie his hands." I was confused if this meant their editorials or if there was something else going on. Sorry if I've missed the point!
