Well according to the link at website reporting the story, Duffy is one of the 'poorest' congresspersons.

The same article indicates that Duffy sleeps at various locations and isn't maintaining a residence in DC. He also said he was open to reducing his salary if it was tied to a more general cut in government salaries.

He did say it was hard to make ends meet (paying for all the kids + 2 houses in his home district. He did say he wasn't living high on the hog. This seems to be accurate based on his finances.

Actually the dems put the raises for congressional salaries on auto pilot some time ago. He isn't asking for more if you read his comments, he is saying he isn't living "high on the hog", seems like a reasonable comment.

The guy was asked a question, he answered the question. Didn't say he should get more said he was OK with getting less if it was tied to a general wage cut for gov employees.
