Can't the same logic be applied to what's going on in the Republican Party? Their attacks haven't gotten as much attention, but the fact is the attacks on Huckabee are that he has liberal economic policy. What you're talking about is a phenomenon of political campaigns that has existed since the founding of our country. As far as Alinsky goes, I read his Rules for Radicals many years ago, and at least that book is a very pragmatic guide that is useful to any group regardless of ideology.
Actually Patters it has ... the party has shifted to the left due to the neo-con nature of the Bush regime. They have been swinging away more than normal ... but then again we haven't seen much swinging in that party in a while so it seems rather new. I think there is no question the success's enjoyed by Bill Clinton has shifted some more to the middle. I found myself also going a bit left of right during his last 4 years and Bush's first 4 years. Wether I stayed and they moved or vice-versa I am not sure.
As to Alinsky ... I didn't post it to offend ... I think his book is a great study for anyone learning politics ... agree or disagree with him is irrelevant to learning. In fact I would hope our universities are teaching politics and its broad nature. I have not read the book but have read up on it on the internet ... I think the book also has applications to startup small businesses ...

I say what Ronald Reagan said on the Democrats, "I didn't leave them, they left me"
I ran like a scared rabbit when the Far Left Loons took that party over, they used to stand up for the working man and their country now they want to tax the working man to death and they are turning America over to the Third World Chicken Chasers and Criminal Gang Bangers, after they make a speech ripping their country to shreds and insulting and degrading our Military all over the world they all get together in front of the News Camera's and GRIN.
When I was a teen I thought I was a Republican .. perhaps I was?
When I settled down in my 20's I realized I was definitely a conservative democrat ... for the same reasons Reagan stated...well, there are not many of us to be sure. I now think I'm a midly conservative democrat now due to our scarcity but prefer to be an independant. If the Republicans moved left I think it would help them and they would be the democrats Reagan was speaking of.
