Ronnie Raygun changed that forever.. amnesty for illegals was his brainchild.
And you prolly really believe that I voted for Reagan too, don't you?
The fact is, as of this day, I have never in my life cast a vote for a Republican POTUS...that's NEVER Darryl. So as you point your fingers toward those you believe align like ducklings to the right (as you so often do), you're often WAY off base and simply WRONG.
If your Reagan comment was meant to rattle what you "think" is a republican or "rightie", I could care less.
Another point is that I voted for Carter...probably the worst voting decision I've ever made...well, until possibly my last vote.

The illegal invasion by the 3rd world will be what eventually does us in.
California is already done in and Texas is next.
Neither political party will take a stand against the illegal invasion for fear of losing the Hispanic vote. The only guy putting his foot down is Sheriff Joe Arpio in Phoenix and he is vilified daily for up holding the law.
Its bizzaro world where wrong is right and vice a versa.
I can see this from both sides. On one hand i understand that these people lived in horrible conditions. But on the other while they may have raised their standard of living they've lowered it for the people already here that worked for generations to achieve a what they have. So im with the people that were already here in that they came in through the front door.

Considering Hispanics tend to be very socially conservative, I would think the gays and pro-aborts should be the ones more interested in taking notice of our shifting demographics....
True, particularly if there are referenda on those types of issues. One reason it is said that Prop 8 went against gays here in CA was the # of blacks who turned out to vote for Obama -- I don't know whether the #s bore that out, but it's interesting to see one minority that's had its rights denied turn around and try to deny equal rights to another -- shows everybody is human.
I haven't looked at the underlying data, but I did notice the chart on the front page of the Journal. It only showed percentage changes, but the states with the biggest shifts were mostly "red": South Dakota, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, S. Carolina, N Carolina and Maryland. That may mean little, if those states had tiny latino populations to being with.
You should shop at Trader Joes...hardly any Italians there.
Here's an oldie but along the same lines:
"From the first of January to the first of July, the number of emigrants landed at this port alone, is fourteen thousand six hundred and seventy-four, and up to the present time may be computed at upwards of fifteen thousand; and as the winter months are generally unfavorable to emigration, we are safe in estimating the number which will arrive here in the year 1835, at thirty thousand.
If, however, we take the round number of thirty thousand emigrants, annually landing in our city, and with the self-augmenting population, arising from that capital, how long will it be that American citizens can retain the destinies of their country in their own hands? The emigration annually doubles the number of our births, and when added to the foreign power already here, which never can throw off attachments to their home and government, it presents a fearful increase of political power; for, unless our naturalization laws are altered, and foreigners placed on a footing with our own sons, this city and state, and probably the whole Union, will be under the control of foreign governments in a few years. Let Americans look at these things in time, and keep the staff in their own hands.- N.Y. Star."
Some things naver change.
And that's supposed to mean what exactly?

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him."
