Default Hyrdaulic fracking. ... Coming to a neighborhood near you?

This is how desperate we are to maintain. ... Contaminating water tables, drilling ever deeper under our sea bed, scrapping established safety protocol, occupying sovereign nations that hate us ... And now, causing hundreds of mini earth quakes in our own communities.

Two Gas Disposal Sites Suspended

Arkansas has been rocked with earthquakes and now scientists are investigating their relationship to earthquakes, as two natural gas companies have agreed to temporarily suspend use of injection wells in central Arkansas where earthquakes keep occurring. The high-pressure wells are used to dispose of waste water from natural gas drilling.

The two drilling operations are Chesapeake Energy and Clarita Operating. They have ceased operation of the wells near Greenbrier and Guy pending a panel meeting on the matter on March 29.

According to the Seattle Times:
The Arkansas Oil and Gas commission says there is likely a link between the wells and the earthquakes. There have been more than 800 quakes in the area in the past six months. with a magnitude 4.7 quake, the strongest in Arkansas in 35 years, hit there Sunday.

“I can’t go into detail at this time, but I can say that we believe there is a potential correlation between injection operations and earthquakes at one or both of those wells,” said Shane Khoury, deputy director and general counsel for the commission.

Must be getting real bad, stuff like this usually only happens with Republican presidents, Bush caused Katrina, that was a real bad one.

If I remember correctly there are issues with the substances that are being used in this process.. and may have long term unintended consequences.

The Natural Gas is distributed amongst rock and dirt. Little pockets of gasses distributed amongst millions of tons of material.

So your telling me that blowing it up to free all the pockets of gas, to extract and leaving a large centralized pocket of air deep in the ground would cause earthquakes at a later point?

Next you'll tell me that Global Warming is a proven fact...

Hey Titus I anxiously await your decision to set an example and cut off your use of dirty energy like coals gas and oil, just commit to turning off YOUR electricity (generated by coal primarily) turn off the heat in YOUR house (Nat Gas and oil) and stop using a car (the bike will work just fine).

You can turn on your computer to enlighten us about how you are making out.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

Witty.

Unfortunately, by making it a black-or-white issue, with no semblance of nuance, like your team is so famous for.... You really miss the entire point. Shocking.

Or perhaps citizens should just stay uninformed, remain good little Americans, and keep their mouths shut about the realities of these industries.

Conservation. A novel concept that CONSERVATIVES are oddly allergic to.

The Fracking movie has as much bs as algore's movie.

Nuance indeed. Do as I say not as I do? Et Tu Titus?

Interesting assertion. What's BS about "Gasland" then? This should be good.

Well the head of the Environmental Defense Fund says the movie is bunk and fracking is safe.

Environmental Defense Fund admits propaganda effort against natural gas exploration is bunk | Mark Hemingway | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

Then there is the article about Radium supposedly being released by fracking:

Radium tests of post-fracking water contradict New York Times allegation | PennLive.com

Of course we know that lefties are ignorant about science for the most part as Penn & Teller demonstrated:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi3erdgVVTw

BTW Fracking has been done for over 60 years, funny no problems until Soros funded groups find a crisis, I guess we don't need to mention that Soros has large financial interest in Natural Gas that would be enhanced if Natural Gas recovery was hampered. Nah I am sure that is just a coincidence.

Quote:
Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection on Monday morning released water tests conducted downstream of waste water treatment facilities handling fracking water from Marcellus gas drilling that show the levels of radium were “at or below the normal naturally occurring background levels of radioactivity.”
The DEP in PA debunks the NYT .
