Default Secretary of State Clinton: Iran trying to influence Arab revolutions

She must be watching too much Beck.

Clinton: Iran trying to influence Arab revolutions
Quote:
The US secretary of state told the Senate Appropriations Committee that Tehran is using Hezbollah to communicate with Palestinians, who in turn communicate with counterparts in Egypt. She also explained that Iran is reaching out to opposition movements in Bahrain and are "very much involved" with the opposition in Yemen.
Clinton warns of Iranian efforts to fill ME power vacuum

Quote:
WASHINGTON – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Tuesday that Iran was aggressively trying to take advantage of the domestic upheavals across the Arab world, and warned that the United States needed to maintain robust aid and involvement in the region to keep Tehran from succeeding.

Clinton described Iran as working “every single day with as many assets as they can muster, trying to take hold of this legitimate movement for democracy,” in testimony before the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Pant Suit Hillary is one of the slickest sleazyist politicians in the business but I actually felt sorry for her the way her "fans" turned on her when Jug Ears came on the scene, one of the biggest "back stabbings" I've ever seen in my lifetime.

Simmering beneath the surface of these Arab and North African revolts is a 1300-year blood feud. Get ready for $10 gas.

Several hurt as Sunnis, Shi'ites clash in Bahrain | Reuters

Quote:
Several people were hurt in fighting between Sunni and majority Shi'ite Muslims in a town in central Bahrain on Friday, the first sectarian violence since protests erupted in the Sunni-ruled kingdom two weeks ago.
...
Others said that Shi'ite youth had targeted naturalized Sunnis living in the area. Hamad Town is a small city in the center of Bahrain, where Shi'ites and Sunnis live together, including those that were granted Bahraini citizenship.

The naturalization of Sunni Arabs and Pakistanis serving in Bahrain's security forces is a major bone of contention for Bahrain's Shi'ite opposition.

It has long demanded an end to the practice of granting citizenship to Sunni foreigners, which it sees as an attempt by the government to change the country's demographic composition.
(bolded items for emphasis)

For those keeping score at home: Iran is Shi'ite while the Saudis are Sunni.

You might be surprised to know that while the Bahraini Shias might not totally oppose Iranian assistance against the Khalifa family, they don't really identify with the Persians at all. They are pretty fiercely proud of their Bahar heritage. If they succeed in Bahrain, look out for Shia uprisings in nearby Saudi Arabia (where the Shia are also Bahar).

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson..they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

It took her this long to figure it out?

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

It looks like the Shias in S.A. aren't waiting to see if the Bahraini's succeed.

Iranian students hurl firebombs at Saudi embassy
- News from The Associated Press

Quote:
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Scores of Iranian students have attacked the Saudi Arabian embassy with firebombs to protest the Gulf country's role in cracking down on anti-government protesters in Bahrain.

The official IRNA news agency says protesters tried to attach a flag of the Lebanese group Hezbollah to the embassy's gate Monday, but were prevented by police. Protesters chanted slogans against Saudi and Bahraini leaders, both followers of Sunni Islam.
