You keep avoiding my point that the Republican did/said nothing wrong, while the Capuano (a democrat) did do something wrong.

Anyone saying "Let's get bloody" to a crowd of angry union people is bordering upon inciting violence. Thankfully, the union guys weren't as stupid and Capuano in this case.

Do you agree that Capuano did something wrong while Broun did NOTHING wrong?
Of course Flex made that point, he is a left leaning poster here no? Its rather common place here for posters, both D and R, to attach the other party to some whack job spouting off at the pie hole and basically present the POV "see this is why D/R is bad"

I stated above that Broun did nothing wrong.

While i think what Capouano said was dumb and definately a bad choice in words, "inciting violence" is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Dumb Yes, Inciting a Riot, no.

Just because some clown made a movie that i'm not sure was ever shown in more than a few locations does not give anyone license to continually spout hate speech about a president they don't like.

How is this the politicians fault? Why is he somehow at fault for something here? He reported it to the Secret Service. I guess he should have blasted the guy in front of everyone, so that maybe the guy could have taken out a gun and started literally blasting him. People are nuts out there. Why antagonize some lunatic that would openly ask when the president is going to be shot? I wouldn't think, especially with the recent happenings in the news, that someone asking a question like that would be dealing with a full deck. I'd have side stepped as well. It's no different than when you're with a group of people at a dinner or something, and someone says something dumb. You don't blast them, you cringe and change the subject.

come on flex, book and movie aside, the leftys, and some mod righties, *****ed about bush for the better part of 8 years.

I in no way supported W; in fact my first post here in the "Who are we" topic, i stated he was the worst pres ever, that being said, bush was hammered on for all but the first 9 months of his two terms. By that standard Obama has another 5 years to go (potentially). griping about "talk of obama is an alien communist socialist facist" just sounds like sour grapes, cuz apparently it was fine when it was the other guy.

Because people look to leaders for guidance, they don't know the answers. They expect people they elect to tell them truth Most of the time, not mislead them. And if he had confronted they guy when he asked the question it would have been ok.

Im not talking about the film. All you have to do is scour through the history for this forum for people crapping on bush. NEM back in the day basically lived and breathed doing it.

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

This is the only rational post I've read on the subject. I would hope that any congressman, rep, or senator would have reacted similarly in this situation, regardless of affiliation or alignment with the executive threatened. Say nothing in response, deflect the question and redirect the conversation and quietly notify the Secret Service as soon as possible. This was a perfect response and anyone trying to make anything of this on either side is playing politics.

As you said, in light of recent happenings in AZ, I am sure the Secret Service has coached Congress up on how to handle such situations. Diffuse, deflect, report.

Put it this way then, had violence broken out after Capuano's comment, he certainly would have been charged with inciting violence. It was a VERY stupid thing to say.

Just because a poster leans one way, I don't see it as acceptable to look for things to post about "the other side". For a long, long time, I've written that "left vs. right" is for idiots. Toting the party line is for those who can't think for themselves...in my opinion.
