Yes, and the ante-bellum South was pro-slavery, wasn't it?
I never agreed that the tea party represents the value system of the South Pre Civil War. In fact I think that's another ridiculous statement by you. Except for the KKK, I don't think anyone in the US has that value system. I'm no expert, but as far as I know the Tea Party does not support enslaving african americans nor secession from the Union (a few whackos excluded). The Tea party is looking to effect change by working within the system, being elected to office and promoting an agenda focused on reducing the size and scope of the federal government. You may not like it, hell, I don't like some of it either, but that doesn't make them racist, sexist, or un-American.
My point was that you say the WI protestors represent the value system of the FDR era, and in fact were he still alive, FDR would probably side with the Governor some of those protestors are comparing to Mubarak and Hitler.
Where does this stuff come from Patters? Why is it all so black and white with you? Conservative = bad, liberal = good? Can't you recognize there are plenty of smart, well meaning people on the right? Do you think your answer to this country's problems is always the right one? I'm fairly conservative myself but I recognize there are good people on the left that simply have different solutions to the problems in front of us. I don't feel the need to vilify people like Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy, or Al Franken, I just disagree with their ideas.
I know you're a smart person, but boy, the stuff you write sometimes is so outrageous, so insulting, that for the first time yesterday I actually went to my user CP to ignore your posts, then realized I can't because you're a mod. I find that a shame on both counts.
I believe, what America showed the world is you have to be willing to risk everything for freedom. What America might have to show in the future, is you might have to risk everything to keep it or get it back.
The revolutionary war cost America 25,700 lives. As horrific a statement as it seems, 84 is not close to what they must be willing to lose.
I fear the people must be willing to fill many more coffins for the idea of being free if they are serious. The ruling class, tyrants , fictitious parties, and dictators of the middle east have brought very little to the masses that supported them and bowed down to their rule, through some antiquated ridiculous right, that has never worked. They have been badly abused , by a ruling class that historically shows it cares little for their welfare in the end.
Wether they are kept ignorant of that truth is unimportant.
This has to happen and needs to happen. I fear for there chances, because outside corporate dictators and forces make this much harder to accomplish than in the 1700's.
As much as I fear the corporate army within America numbering over a 100,000 men, built in no small measure of men from other countries, for cheap fighting wages. Seems similar mistake was made by the Romans.
I also find it interesting that the beaten hungry dog created by the middle east ruling class, is turning on its masters, but these supposed superior humans had no idea this was going to happen. When its an obvious outcome of mistreatment.
And the fact that by supporting the peasants fanaticism , terrorism, and unwavering belief structure to attack other countries,,, they have trained and built the exact human engine to insure their own demise.
Libya, is another matter. Im not sure a competent resistance leadership exist, this might just be a fad uprising. But, they must be willing to loose everything for freedom, we proved that.
200 people dying for the freedom of a country isnt' much compared to 25,000. But in this day and age you'll never see that many casualties, just like you'll never see 60,000 soldiers killed in one day like what happened in the Somme during WW1. (If you do it will be in the battle of Arrmagedon.) These days the world can see whats going on and will step in. It happened in the Balkens in the late Ninties, if Gaddafi started mass killings a coalition would be formed and stop him.
US presses Libya to halt crackdown, threatens action
I get a kick out of the Tea Paty Patriots, i'm sure you know that they fasion themselves after the original Boston tea party. The truth is that the people that dressed up and threw the tea in the harbor were all wealthy business men. The average colonist was a farmer who grew or raised just about everything he needed. He would need some things such as glass window paynes and have the leaded, or an ax, but he could either barter or sell some crops and pay in cash. So the average colonist in the 1700's didn't have a beef with the British and taxes he didn't pay much. But the wealthy busines men did, and so started the myth of the average colonial patriot standing up for their rights. The wealthy started the war and the poor farmer faught, and it continues to this day.
Qaddafi senior is on the run. Jr. is still talking tough (at least until someone in the military figures out which way the winds are blowing and turns on him):
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is believed to have fled the capital Tripoli after anti-government demonstrators breached the state television building and set government property alight.
...
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the dictator's son, gave a defiant address on state television last night saying his family's 'spirits are high' and warning: 'We will eradicate them [enemies] all'.
He said Libya's oil reserves would be 'burned by thugs, criminals, gangs and tribes' and said the populace would be left in poverty.
Dude, they are already in poverty thanks to your father, that's why you have massive protests in the first place.

Ya, sometimes I think we forget the real story, and I have issue as to how reporters are covering the situation. Its easy to call people fanatics or terrorist nut jobs, but always when you dig deeper, you find the real reason they turned.
These are videos in India, an extremely cultured country compared to the middle east, and its easy to see why things end up like they do, almost dang obvious. Having no hope, you will grasp and believe in the 1st thing that offers it, and supports their claim, its why prostitution is the oldest business.
Still unverified, but seems to match previous reports.

------------------ “On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson..they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sacks last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”
