Default Social Security Obama ***** Care

Social Security
Congress will not allow an increase in the social security COLA (cost of living adjustment). However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010, $120.20 for the year 2011 AND Yearly increases to a wonderful $247.00 in 2014. Thank You Obamacare!

Congress also gave themselves a $3,000 a month Cost of Living Adjustment!

No Flex...you need to read up on your history. Soc Sec is a PROMISE made by our federal government and is backed by the thousands of dollars that is TAKEN from the paychecks of Americans just for the purpose of retirement savings.

Which is just like the paychecks our elected representatives collect each month....oh phuk wait...they get to give THEMSELVES a raise without our consent while they determine our elderly don't deserve a dime more???

WTF is that all about Flex. Please be warned, this will require some critical thinking on your part and I'm not sure if you're really up to the task these days based upon the shallow stuff you've been posting of late...but please, give it a try will you?

From now on, if you're going to post, comment upon the thread topic and not it's author.

I'm surprised you stoop this low Chico. On this board, we don't attack the poster because you can't handle the thread topic. Please think about what you're doing.

Can we have a link to this, please, Harry? I can't find a thing that says Congress gets a COLA this year. Last thing I can find was from 2010 when they denied themselves one.

If it is, indeed, true that they've now upped their salary by $36,000 a year doesn't that fall on all those new Republicans and Tea Party so recently elected, too?

Here's what I've found. If you've got something more current with the $3,000 per month increase I'd surely appreciate it. Either I can't find it or you're shilling for Fox again.

No pay raise for Congress in 2011
By Jordy Yager - 05/14/10 02:12 PM ET

A bill nixing Congress' automatic 2011 pay raise was signed into law on Friday by President Barack Obama.

The move marks the second consecutive year lawmakers have opted not to receive their automatic cost-of-living increase. The law governing congressional pay raises requires members to vote against getting a raise. Otherwise, the increase takes effect automatically.

The base pay for House and Senate lawmakers is $174,000, though leaders earn a higher salary. The cost-of-living increase would have given lawmakers a $1,600 raise in 2011. By rescinding the increase, lawmakers saved taxpayers $850,000 for next year.

I think their pay-rate is pretty low for their job, but they are "public service jobs" aren't they? I also find it "Strange" that they "automatically" get raises and only have to vote to deny themselves raises.

In my opinion, they should have to vote either way so "we the people" hear about it every year. How many of us get to vote ourselves when we should get a raise and even more appalling...how much of a raise we should get?

The process is wrong....dead wrong.
