Didn't the Soviets terminate the reign of the czars/tsars? Maybe a Russian or Bulgarian accent?

The first U.S. czar was apparently Bernard Baruch who was put in charge of the War Industries Board in WW I.

Unlike Cabinet officials who are vetted in Senate hearings, these Czars are noot vetted this was done because Obama didn't want the records of these people reviewed and made public due to their radical (in mnay cases) background.

BTW just a note the Czar was royality not a communist, although many of Obama's czars are. Just saying. Great reason for libertarians for vote for statist.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

Did anyone ever notice the amount of Czars during the reign of George W... or did this just begin on 1/20/09????

Selective memory once again...

I was responding to wistah's joke with my own. I also pointed out that the practice originated almost a century ago.

Wholesale misreading once again.

The Cabinet people are approved by Congress ... that's different.

Czars are not under Congress scrutiny.

I noted it before ... Clinton energized it and then Bush exploited it - Obama continued it.

Yup. And some of the Cabinet positions are enumerated in the Constitution.

I know it's different, which is why I was asking shirtsleeve if he really wanted to go far as his post possibly indicated -- and he clarified what he wanted.
