Default Military Statistics:

Interesting:

Quote:
Military losses, 1980 through 2006

Surprise, Surprise (not really)

These are some rather eye-opening facts.

Since the start of the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan , the sacrifice has been enormous. In the time period from the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 through today, we have lost over 3,000 military personnel to enemy action and accidents.

As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is, consider the following statistics: The annual fatalities of military members while actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:

1980 ......... 2,392
1981 ......... 2,380
1984 .......... 1,999
1988 .......... 1,819
1989 .......... 1,636
1990 ......... 1,508
1991 .......... 1,787
1992 .......... 1,293
1993 .......... 1,213
1994 .......... 1,075
1995 .............2,465
1996 ......... 2,318 Clinton years @14,000 deaths
1997 ......... 817
1998 ........ 2,252
1999 ......... 1,984
2000 .......... 1,983
2001 ........ 890
2002 ......... 1,007
2003 ....... 1,410
2004 ......... 1,887
2005 ...... 919
2006.......... 920 Bush years (2001-2006): 7,033 deaths

If you are confused when you look at these figures, so was I.

Do these figures mean that the loss from the two latest conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during Mr. Clinton's presidency when America wasn't even involved in a war? And, I was even more confused; when I read that in 1980, during the reign of President (Nobel Peace Prize winner) Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities!

The latest census, of Americans, shows the following distribution of American citizens, by Race:
European descent (White) ...... 69.12%
Hispanic ....................................... 12.5%
Black.......................................... 12.3%
Asian ............................................... 3.7%
Native American .......................... . ..1.0%
Other ................... ....................... ... 2.6%

Now... here are the fatalities by Race; over the past three years in Iraqi Freedom:

European descent (white) ...... 74.31%
Hispanic .................................. 10.74%
Black ........................................ 9.67%
Asian ........................................... 1.81%
Native American ......................... 1.09%
Other ........................................... . 0.33%

Not sure where you gets those stats and text, go to page 10 and the information is quite a bit different than what you present.. cannot cut and past PDF and do not feel like doing it manually.. but what you presented is fictitious.

Is this you got your political comments about our deceased americans.. this is a very misleading post as there is only a chart on P. 22, no text.. but what do you expect.

http://kevinbryant.blogspot.com/2007...tary-1980.html

You may initially feel confused when you look at these figures --especially when you see that in 1980, during the term of President Jimmy Carter, there were 2,392 US military fatalities. What this clearly indicates is that our media and our liberal politicians pick and choose and tend to present only those facts that support their agenda driven reporting. Another fact our left media and politicians like to slant is that these brave men and women losing their lives are minorities. Wrong again - Iraqi Freedom Fatalities over March 2003-June 2007 appear similar to our population breakdown. Regardless of how we crunch these numbers, we must remember that these figures represent the life of a son or daughter that gave up our their life for our freedom. (from page 22):

Understand Rush was talking about this today also..

Check out this chart from the DOD Manpower Center, for some reason there were a ton of accidental deaths in the 80's.. nothing to qualify it, but interesting nonetheless.

http://siadapp.dmdc.osd.mil/personne...eath_Rates.pdf

There were no hostile deaths until 1983, when there were 18..

this whole thing is like comparing raisins and grapefruit, yea Carter did it..

I hope to heck nobody is skewing this statistic to make it seem like the Bush Presidency has been somehow a victory for anything militarily. And somhow we didn't lose a single soldier in Bosnia, yet the stat blatently is shedding light on the military losses during the Clinton years.

Its crazy to me that anyone sees this as a justification for a decent policy towards our troops, and a moral victory to justify this invasion and occupation of a country that never attacked us. NOt even sure these statitstics are REAL, these are the same people that don't count mass murder (car bombings etc. ) as a death. These are the same people telling me the SURGE is working, and somehow violence is down when over a million people have fled their homes for Syria, and this has been the deadliest year since 2004....We still have yet to see the Iraqi poeple build a government and stand up fo rwhat they want.

STATS...we can spin them however we want. but here are the FACTS

The United Sates under President George Bush have invaded an independent nation.with no plan for victory and no exit strategy. The Country is now in chaos, the region is now unstable, and million have lost their lives, homes, and culture. The second largest presence in the region is a mercinary army who answers to nobody, and is immune to prosecution. We have wasted billion sof dollars on private contractors who answer to nobody.

so thansk for the Statistics posted above, I'll be sure to sleep a lot bettr knowing that fukcin Rush Limbaugh is using this F-ed up statistic as a talking point......BRa-VO!

yup.. page 10 of his link, indeed... it's a little jumbled, but note the figures to the right of each calendar year... ooops...

in fact, total military deaths went sharply down when Clinton took office, and continued to go down in 7 of 8 Clinton years, and shot right back up to Bush 41 levels when Boy King took office...

what a one-star dissappointment, if there ever was one... your integrity here has taken a cliffdive plunge, mtbykr...

The correct numbers from the table in the report show that deaths were in steady decline through the Clinton years and rose after 9/11, I'm not sure what happened to the table you posted, but there were less than 1000/year during most of the 90s. Still, it does show that the deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, horrible as they are, still are about the same as the number of accidental deaths in the 80s. I would have thought the numbers would be way up since 2003 compared to any other year after Vietnam. Every life lost is still tragic though. (Yes NEM, we understand this should mean immediate withdrawal and trials for Bush and Cheney, no need to post it. Hah! Beat you to the punch!)

(edit) And it looks like PC beat ME to the punch in correcting the #s. Curse you PC!

Appears that way, another macabre post that makes me want to be gung ho for our efforts in the ME.. somehow can never desanctify those who died in combat for a political agenda.. but it happens all the time.

First let me apologize for posting it before reading the link. Someone I trust sent it to me, but I didn't have time to read through the link before I posted it. This is why in the original post all I commented on was 'interesting'. I did not intend to argue one way or the other...I was just surprised by the numbers that were listed there so i thought I would post it figuring someone would dig through the link before I could get around to it.

Sorry for the confusion.
