Paul's a joker, he reminds me of a better Stockdale, Perot's running mate. And Huckabee is too hayseed, smiley boy for me.
But Thompson, Romney, McCain, Giuliani, I like them all. Not all their policies but they're grown ups, well thought, well spoken and would make strong representatives for the country. I think they're a stronger group than the Dems. Obama has almost no resume, Hillary is a yeller who thinks she can marry into the presidency. And Edwards is a one trick pony.
Aside from issues, watching the Republican debate they look like the stronger, more experienced and more capable group to me.

I don't like any of the candidates out there except for Ron Paul, who is the only candidate I've donated money to.
I don't know if he had a bad night but he looked bad in this debate. The time when his answer suggested what the others said was 180 off reality and he said he couldn't hear anything - that was darn near Stockdale-esque.
My instincts are telling me The next president is Democrat.
You're probably right. I was really just saying that while most say it's a strong (D) field and a lousy (R) field, I feel the opposite and was largely impressed tonight even though there isn't a single (R) candidate I'm truly with on the issues.
Thank you Ron Paul for reminding people that American Libertarianism tends to attract bigots.
Giuliani in drag, using city services to conceal his affair, telling the media before his wife that he was divorcing her, flipflopping to the right to pander to the religious conservatives.
Romney is Mr. FlipFlop. He lied to get elected in Massachusetts and is probably lying now to pander to the right. He's well polished, but overly so, like the stereotype used car salesman. He' a lightweight.
Thompson is downright lazy, has done a minimum amount of campaigning, and probably would be the same in the general election. Plus he looks even older than McCain. Also, like McCain, he has a trophy wife, something that I think won't sit well if Clinton is the opponent.
McCain is old, the famous hug with Bush is embarrassing, his reputation is swearing and losing his cool is well documented, but he's one I could tolerate.
Huckabee is a bit of a nut. Though pretty good on poverty issues, his belief in Creationism makes him a throwback to another era, and he apparently has no interest in the separation of church and state. Also, check this out from a nice conservative source:
Well, as I said, I think they're a good group. You want to throw names out well Hillary is a shrill, pandering flip flopper herself who will change with every poll. And Obama has almost no resume.
Thompson is, almost, as dumb as Bush. Even Nixon said he was dumb.
Romney will be obligated to the Mormon Church, even if he says he wont be.
McCain is too old, and has lost my respect when he kissed Bush's ass after the Bush campaign smeared the crap out of him in 2004. And, he is power hungry, nothing else.
Guiliani, well, what more, or less, can be said about the lying bastard. He lies through his teeth and he had his girl friend in the mayor's mansion while still married to his wife. A total sleaze. And all he does is invoke 9/11.
So, how the hell can you even consider this bunch of jackasses.
Obama is inexperienced, but you wont find a better orator, he speaks extremely well, but he lacks international and diplomatic skills.
Hillary is extremely qualified, regardless of what people say. Highly educated, actually speaks very well, and has tremendous diplomatic experience that she gained as first lady. She is well known, and well liked by foreign dignitaries.
John Edwards is hard to read. I think he means well, but I dont know if he really has a grasp on the executive, and economic, side of being president.
Two of the Dems who recently dropped out are probably the two with the best credentials, but they just couldnt rally the troops, Joe Biden and Bill Richardson.
Richardson was a former diplomatic and has tremendous skills in international affairs and as the top executive of the State of New Mexico, he has skills that would help him at the federal level in running a government.
Biden also is a tremendous orator, and has international, and long time domestic, skills...but again, like Richardson, just couldnt get past the media blitz of Obama and Hillary.
The best candidate of all, both parties, has decided not to run, and the country will be the loser...... Al Gore.
So, at this point in time, I honestly believe that the best ticket for the country is Clinton/Biden but, because both are from Northeast states, and the ticket loses voter strength in the west and mid section of the nation, then Clinton/Richardson would be a strong ticket, IMO.
Just look at it this way... if that should be the ticket, and should it win, compare the current vice president to what Bill Richardson can give the nation in experience and knowledge.
NEM, you need to stay out of the Arizona sun bud.

....and Obama is a kid, Hillary is underqualified, and Edwards is an ambulance chasing hypocrite fraud. Wow, wait, I just realized all the candidates have flaws? Oh my goodness!
