I'm not the same poster, but I believe we all have the same opportunity. Everyone comes from a different background, but we all have the same opportunity to do what we want with our lives.

Anyone notice the huge increase in check cashing stores, talk about another method to rip people off.. f.. ing incredible.. right up there with furniture rental stores.
I agree, and the biggest problem is that people do it and because of the fees then they get behind and are always stuck in a cycle of going to the 'cash advance' before their paycheck all the while getting less money in their pocket because of the fees. Now I have no problem with the 'cash advance' stores, or the furniture rental stores...generally speaking it's peoples own stupidity and lack of self discipline financially that leads to that.

if 1% of the nation collectively took their money out of financial institutions, they'd all go belly up...
Why should it be free? You think they make money on the $350 someone might have in there account? They're supposed to give you ATM's, 800 #'s, branch's, safety, security, administration, online websites, etc.. and not charge you a dime for being a complete moron, and spending money you don't have? The appologism in this country is truly tragic. Here's a tip, if your bank sucks, find another. I get free checking with no minimum at Sovereign. I make sure I only use Sovereign ATMs. Sure, there are times when you have to bend over and pay the juice someplace else, but I keep it at a minimum. Banking isn't a right, it's a priveledge. Shop for a bank that best suits your needs.

Man, was I an idiot until I hit 26 for some reason. Oh yeah, I remember why...girls, partying and not paying attention.
I was in the same boat. When I graduated from college 10+ years ago I had $7 or $8k in credit card debt. I used to work 6 days a week, and party 7. Trips, chics, clubs and assorted other things meant I never saved a dime. At any rate, I finally grew up and straightened out. It was no one's fault but my own.

More than 40% of bank revenue now comes from fees on consumer accounts.

This is BIG , real BIG !

The day they lose that 40% income , what are they gonna do ? close banks ?

I tought banks make money in investments , this is a weird way to make money , isn't it?

or maybe a lot of people ( A LOT ) are paying those late fees ?

What's the big deal ? A lot of companies exist based on dumb people doing dumb things. This is no different.

The question is....Is it legal ?

Have you watched that confessions from that mortgage broker the other day ?
He was told by its corporate company to push "Average Joe" chose the worst loan , and make him pay more than he should. And the more he does it , the more he gets commissions/Bonuses. Nice play , is it ?
Wallstreet followed the same path selling those " stincky packages" to the rest of the World, the rest is history.

It's not illegal to prey on average Joe , is it ?
Many legal immigrants and even US citizen are not that smart or maybe didn't have the chance to finish their studies for differents reasons .

Protect your people , stop the companies that do illegal preying , it will simply come back and hit hard the economy .
The proof , you can see it today.
